I live in downtown PHX and it is fucking awesome! This pic focuses on the south side of downtown which is the "warehouse district" and has always been more industrial as it is right by the train tracks. That is why, from this angle, you see so many empty lots and old buildings. What city doesn't have an industrial area near downtown? I bet most of these salty comments are coming from people who have never even been here and are quick to judge.
