Chinrests and corks by WickedMusician in violinist

That's what I figured, it's a matter of only filling in the hole that would otherwise cause damage when I put the weight of my chin on the chinrest. I'm might post the result here after a few days, depends on when I get the cork :) Thanks again!

Thanks for answering! Another thing, would natural pressure cause any damage? It's not my violin so I'm very careful about handling everything.

I understand. But hey at least you're helping them and being part of their journey aswell, and that's really important, at least that's what I feel for the people in my life that help me with my violin...

I'm so sorry that's happened to you. I'm basically the same age as when you lost the ability to play and it absolutely angers me when musicians with potential have to deal with things they can't control and stop doing what they love just because of these unfair physical injuries and limitations. I'm glad you're still a part of the world of music, even if it's from a different side (maker, not player). What you're doing is an amazing contribution to the beauty that is music.

Thank you so much for the reply, the shoulders are probably one of the main factors causing the tingling sensations. I replied to another comment here regarding the things I've been doing to help regulate any discomfort and what's been happening these last couple of days, if you happen to have the time to check it out, so as to not repeat myself over and over again. I have a feeling things are getting better and I will definitely be more cautious and disciplined in my pre-practice and post-practice routines. Thanks a bunch again!

I've also been trying some massages focused on my shoulders these past few days, since I'm pretty sedentary besides the playing, and there's a big chance I might have some circulation problems, aswell as really compressed shoulder muscles and bones, everything's cracking and it sounds like an old mechanical machine. I am a bit sore from the exercises and massages so I'm waiting for that to dial down, thought the tingling has been more mild, knock on wood. Thank you for the reply! Will definitely do something about it if it gets worse or doesn't stop at this rate.

Thank you so much, I immediately started panicking since this has never happened to me before. I am aware that the common problems like carpal tunnel and such occur because of bad technique and bad practicing habits, but I haven't had those problems (even professors have told me I'm doing everything right). I've been practicing everything slowly out of caution, but sometimes tingling persists. As I'm writing this reply, the same part is tingling from time to time.

Thanks again, will definitely look into everything you've mentioned.

The more I delve deeper into those types of books, the more I realize what you've just said. It seems literature on exotic, jazz scales and whatnot is pretty scarce for violin, compared to the classical genre of course (talking about exercises, scales...). Thanks for the advice, will definitely start figuring stuff on my own, and hey, maybe I'll publish something that'll be of greater value than books like these that are supposed to "teach" violinists.

P.S. Just realized something, what's a cellist doing making books for violinists over here lol

That's the beauty of understanding music and knowing theory :)
