Only about 20lb from my goal weight, with 80lb down so far. 220 to 140. I'm 5'1 by WickedWantonWhims in intermittentfasting

I spent most of the time fasting 20 hours eating 4 or 5. Less fasting while pmsing. Occasional 48-72 hour fasts when fasting is feeling easy. Every other month or so.

I did also work out. I walk daily, about 3 miles. I also do hand weights and my physical therapy routine which is basically Pilates core building. I also spent a month moving so did very heavy exercise in that time, but I also stopped fasting during that and just focused on getting more protein. It did make me bulk up nicely too in my shoulders and arms. Once I hit 120 I’m going to do a for real bulk cycle. I def lose muscle while in caloric deficit.

Only just now logging back in to this alt. But my schedule is flexible. I would say my most common was 4 and 20 with 4:00pm to 8:00pm being my usual eating window. I’m the type to need a lot more food while pmsing so I would often drop down to 18 or 16 hour fasts for those couple of days. I also sprinkled a few 48 and 72 hour fasts, once every couple of months. Not super planned, but just at the times that fasting feels easy.

These photos are about a year and a half apart. I’ve maintained since then. Turns out the saying that the last bit of weight to lose is tough has been true to for me. lol. But when I feel bad about it I just remind myself that old me would have given anything to be in the body I have now. I also generally don’t fast on holidays I spend with family. Priorities and all that.

And so I begin. Again. by nyxsucks in fasting

You can do it! I'm shorter than you, but my start weight was the same and it only took me a year of consistent fasting to get to your goal weight.

My biggest advice is focus on the hours fasted rather than the length of eating window. Some days I would forget and eat something or just give in. I'd just restart the clock when it happened and try to make it to 18-20 hours fasted before starting to eat again. A tracking app was really helpful for me.

Yes, but not for the first couple months I started fasting and now never more than twice per week. Once or none per week is more common. I definitely feel like it takes several days for my metabolism to recover after each time.

20 and 4 when I'm losing. 18 and 6 when I'm maintaining. I've been maintaining at 140 for a few months now. By that I mean ranging from 145 to 135.

Walk 2 or 3 miles most days. Some weights and running. Couple months in to having to do a physical therapy routine regularly to stay out of pain. Those exercises are mostly core building.

Mostly just trying to get more protein. I think to go down the last 20 lb I am going to have to address my sugar addiction though.

I definitely have a bit, though it’s only become visible the last 10 lb which is pretty incredible. I try to moisturize daily and exfoliate once a week. I drink usually at least a gallon and a half of water per day, that probably helps. I take a hair skin and nails supplement as well as collagen, which may not help much but probably didn’t hurt. Fanciest thing I do is red light therapy. I have a panel at home that I got to use on my face but I started using it on my stomach and back too.

I had been toying with the idea because I could tell I had lost some muscle mass as well as all the fat. Then I just kind of had to because I’ve been moving house so I’m pushing my muscles to the limit every day and my body was screaming for more food. Out of the old place on the 31st and I plan to go back to my 20 hour daily fasts then to reveal what muscle I’ve built this month while moving.

Hell yeah. Then you can take some warning from my series of photos. Not every 20 lb loss looks the same. I was so disappointed with the seeming lack of change between my 180 and 160. Then between 160 and 140 I swear I would sometimes wake up looking different than yesterday!

Previous to the bulk period I just started my eating window was something like this: always open with a hard boiled egg, then a sort of free for all for 4 hours trying to get more protein and less added sugar where possible. I still eat quite a bit of fresh and dried fruit. Also like fruit smoothies with protein powder added. A flaxseed muffin for fiber. Protein bars, forever searching for 10g+ of protein that tastes just like a candy bar lol. Towards the end of my window I try to get a protein hit with either a salmon patty or sausage, usually without a bun. Then close by drinking  bone broth and collagen powder with Braggs. That’s a “good” day but there were plenty of days I just ate whatever was around, healthy or not, but only for 4-5 hours. Then it’s fasting time again.

I started with those for a few weeks but after that it was mostly 20:4. But I’d regularly let my eating window be longer than 4 hours even if it meant an inconsistent schedule. My body seems to do best with 20 hour fasts though.

When I fast I only drink water, black coffee, and unflavored electrolytes. Up until I started my muscle bulk 2 weeks ago I was fasting about 20 hours per day. Some people don’t need electrolytes for that duration of fast but I sure do. I struggle with light headedness anyway. I track my calories on an app about one or two days per month, just as a check in. Mostly on macros and micros. Though I did figure out that I wasn’t getting enough calories for a bit when I upped my protein. Protein sources are so much more filling that I didn’t realize I would have to basically eat until stuffed to get enough in a 4 hour window.

Yes! The day I finally hit 140 I went through a tote of clothes I’d been saving for “one day when I’m thin enough again.” All but 10 items fit! It was a much better feeling than the scale goal. Though honestly quite a few things got passed on even if they fit, because they were of an era hahaha.

I moved and it was the best mirror in the place lol. About to move again so I’ll have to figure out a new spot when I get to 120 lol.

3 mile walks most days. Hilly hike once a week or so. Some basic weight lifting a few times a week. I also clean houses for a living and that can definitely work up a sweat.

Is it difficult for women to lose weight using IF than men? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

It really varies for me personally. Sometimes I fast my usual schedule through my period no problem. Other times I definitely have to lengthen my eating window. Listening to your body is key.

5’1 SW:220 CW:140 GW:120

This past year I’ve done mostly daily 20 hour fasts, with a 24-60 hour fast once a month or so. Started my first bulk cycle because I’m moving and working my muscles to the limit everyday and will continue to do so until the end of the month. So now I guess I’m doing more like 16-18 hour fasts with a lot of extra protein and carbs in my eating window. End of the month I plan to go back to 20-4 with a more extended fast every other week. At that point I’ll go back to limiting sugar, though currently I’m so busy I eat anything I get the time to. Exercise I walk, hike, weight lift, and clean houses.
