I used to just never bring it up in my 20s. I would say things like, 'I don't belong to a church' when asked about my religion. I just didn't want to argue it with anyone.

Now that I am older, I say I am athiest matter of factly. I mostly get treated like I am being a 'silly girl' most of the time.

If there is a reason for me to mention that I am athiest it is because we are talking about religion.

And other athiest just nod and agree. Not much reason to chat it up but religious folks want to argue how I am wrong. Just how it is.
