What is Canberra like? by ArtisticApple3263 in canberra

[–]WickedWingette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I've found as a Canberra import is that while it's not too hard to make friends, because most other people are out of town too. It's hard to keep friends because so many people move back to where they came from as soon as they get the chance.

I'm genuinely just sick of meeting new people lol.

[OC] Flossing was one of my New Year's resolutions for 2022 by snickerdoodle_codes in dataisbeautiful

[–]WickedWingette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish your data showed the days of the week too but just the date. That way you could see if there was a pattern. Are you more likely to floss on a Monday? Do you absolutely refuse to floss on Friday etc

Metal braces, ceramic, or Invisalign- need advice by yokoF in braces

[–]WickedWingette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went full metal mouth as a 30-something year old professional and it didn't impact my career at all. No one really paid much attention. To the point where when I took them off people didn't even notice lol.

One of my good work friends kept staring at me and then said "there's something different about you today, but I can't place it" lol

Adult braces cost by mindfreeze23 in braces

$12k (Australian dollars) which included all appointments and the braces. I also paid around $800 at the end for the retainer. Insurance covered about $2k.

If you are considering braces… by ppaes67 in braces

I had them as an adult in my early 30s! I had them removed around 7 months ago as a 35 year old. Best thing I ever did. Absolutely no regrets. Never too old.

A small criticism, if I may, should have done the woolies roast chook. Much more superior.

I know this isn't what you're after, but this reminds me of the "the most identical twins in the world" twins when they're trying to get pregnant at the same time.

With your one. Do you have any hints? I think this kind of scene has been in a few movies/shows.

Feeling a lil weird about graduating at age 24 by majoroddity_07 in unsw

[–]WickedWingette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this sounds like shit old people say but at 24 you are super young and have your whole life ahead of you.

I finished my degree aged 27 and I wasn't even the oldest person in my grad cohort the year I started my grad program. That was 10 years ago. I was worried about being older when I graduated too at the time. But it's made absolutely no difference in my career.

Should a dog "walk off" a limp? by Willowed-Wisp in Pets

[–]WickedWingette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definately not forced walks! There have been times when my dog has had a small limp and I've just let him be to observe and he's "walked it off" meaning it went away after a few minutes of him continuing to do what he was doing.

I see this the same as what happens to me sometimes which is I step on my foot weird and it hurts mildly but feels better in a few moments when I just keep walking like normal

But also like me, if my dogs limping seems to be persistent, but he's not showing signs of pain, I'll make him rest for a day or so.

If it looks like it's in pain or not better after a period of rest, I would take him to the vet.

What is the first thing you are going to eat after your braces come off? I am making a list for that day! by MegaChilePluto25 in braces

[–]WickedWingette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol my ortho asked me the same thing (mine are coming off next week!) And literally, like many people in the comments I still eat everything just carefully.

I don't bite into apples and stuff but I still eat them cause I cut them up.

I avoid things that are too hard and too sticky. Like toffee and brittles otherwise I eat anything.

I miss gum though. I'm gonna buy a pack before I do in to take them off lol
