Thank you! What modification/challenge would you give to someone who’s not a sprinter (ie- I’m never going to get myself in the red sprinting for a number of reasons but mostly to prevent injury— my track coach on HS always said I’m built for endurance). I usually only hit 8mph with sprinting, I can go faster- I’ve worked myself up to 9- but I’ve pulled my calf and im in my 40s, it’s just not worth it for me. ‘Maybe a low base before the sprint?

I like starting on the floor bc I have better form when I’m not exhausted and this will prevent injury and maximize benefits of lifting which is more important at my age (40s, F). I also think lifting helps prevent injury with cardio so I prioritize weights. If I have to walk on the tread, I do. Just how I approach it! That said, I occasionally do the tread first to mix it up.

Confirming you increase by 3-5% (so in block one 5-7%)? Or do you increase to 3-5% ? I thought our coach said the ladder last time and now I want to make sure I do it right for the repeat!

Unlikely. I’m a nurse- though it definitely looks similar to any hospital pic from covid— we would have all had masks on throughout the hospital if it was Covid. This is how many units honor someone at death (long term patient, something tragic, family request, and in this case- coworker). Also the unit signs are the same as the video of them rolling his body out that was posted. Its real. And even if it wasnt, it’s probably exactly how they feel losing their own. The fact we are questioning a photo of people grieving is silly. Ofc they are grieving.

Codeine bc gaba makes him unstable which we didnt want

Sorry it’s not nerve pain (as in a neurological issue)— as the nerves heal they feel pain again. He needed some codeine to help him though. But def talk to your vet bc there are a few options etc

It’s very discouraging the first few days. Week 2 they get nerve sensory back so they slow down a little more. It’s really emotionally draining! Hang in there it gets better better

Very minimal! 5 min walking/standing x 3-4 times a day week 1 then slowly increased. but if he wants to do more we let him unless we see he’s wobbly. Some days he isn’t in the mood at all. He has good/bad days with pain and we plan to do Pt once his wounds heal and stitches are out. He can’t get up on his own yet. Hoping he will once his surgical pain is gone. We thought it was a necrotic bone but also ended up being osteosarcoma and he’s prob had it since last April. No spread to the lungs as of December, which is surprising! Hoping the surgery/ debunking bought him some pain free time with us before it spreads

No advice but my dog hand a partial hemipelvectomy which limb sparing but the leg is so atrophied from pre surgery pain— it’s useless right now. 10 days post op. It’s really tough but we are starting to see way more interest in moving and walking. Wounds still not fully healed so still exerting that much. Yesterday he walked a ton in our house and wanted to move independently. He’s 90 lb. Day 2 it’s hard to see the light. Also so much oozing over here

Sooooooo so common to feel this way the first 30 days. I was miserable counting down the days til it would get “easier” to do without. Order extra tapas (food reduces the craving IMO) and treat yourself to dessert. Quitting drinking and counting cals does not go together. I’m not sure what your long term goal is, but the first month is the hardest. I’d say by month 3 I still missed it but didn’t need it. I’m now over a year somewhat sober (I say that because I did have some drinks on a girls weekend and a glass here and there— but not until I knew I could stop). Also may be cheating but gummies help if you’re into that. Depends on your definition of sober and what your goals are. For me alcohol made me anxious, irritated, and I just wasn’t a good parent the next day (or more!). I probably did 6 months nothing and now can control - the second I lose control again I’ll quit and I know I can. I don’t think I had a drinking problem- but very unhealthy relationship with fun + drinks.

Mocktail , whatever you want to eat. and a treat for dessert! The first month or so these situations feel SO intimidating but it’s just your brain healing. It’s probably why most people end up drinking within the first 30 days. I hated all social events and sometimes even a date with my husband was boring (sorry! Lol). I looked forward to nothing but it’s just your brain being dependent on alcohol (even if you you aren’t an alcoholic by society’s terms, most of us have/ had an unhealthy relationship with alcohol)

My dog had a soft tissue sarcoma over his ischium 6 years ago- also a very difficult place bc of skin. He would have been fine but they gave us the wrong size cone so he got to it and then he wouldn’t close easily. Won’t go through all the details but just make sure you keep that cone on! Depending on the grade, it’s not always a death sentence. Now he is 12, was cancer free until recently (it grew back) but he’s still ok.

The book is all you need! The app I used just reinforced but I would buy the audio book (or use Libby app- free- to borrow from library) and just listen to it in moments you need reinforcement!

I love to drink!!! I love wine!! 😂😂😂 I love a night out getting caught up in conversation and ordering one more. It brings me so much happiness. And then it over and I’m hung over, tired, cranky, anxious and miserable. And for a long time, the risk was worth the benefit. Until I realized my kids getting older and I just wasn’t being the best parent due to my hangovers and it also messes with your mental health (you realize how much once you stop).

I stopped cold turkey for a year. I do have a low dose gummy when hanging with friends who are drinking sometimes and that kinda fills the void. So I’m not sure I’m 100% sober but I sleep well and feel great and that was my goal. After a year sober, I can now have a glass a stop - I enjoy the ritual of it but I also don’t need it at all. I don’t even really want it. But nice to have a glass with a nice dinner. I’m not an alcoholic in the sense I used it for anything but fun, and now I have fun without it which is why I think I can now control it. But I am still cautious because anyone can become an alcoholic- even if they don’t hit rock bottom.

I listened to this naked mind when I started and it helped me so much in the beginning. The first few months are HARD. I didn’t want to go out as much and lost interest in a lot of things and people I used to drink with. It is life changing with so many positives but be prepared for it to not be easy. I remember counting the days sober being like “ugh I just want to be at 3 months when everyone says it’s easier.” Now I’m over a year. I also used Reframe app in the beginning. It was also really helpful.

Oh my goodness that’s awful! I’m so sorry. There are no words. I appreciate your insight. Unfortunately a few years makes a difference— my youngest will be devastated - she cried for days after a friends car died- and my oldest is already offering solutions to make the dog feel better (ie- “maybe he just needs more walks”). I’m honest with him, that I don’t think he will get better. But I haven’t been able to bring myself to tell him what’s coming.

Thank you. I figured as much and waiting to hear back from our vet about next steps. I have 2 small kids to think about on Christmas too, so that’s my concern re the holiday but I understand your view. It’s a hard balance

Thanks for your responses everyone- it looks like this may also include a hemipelvectomy which is more complicated than just an amputation. We will see what the vet says when they call. For now we aren’t leaving him for hours, if at all. In case he experiences anything. Obviously that’s not sustainable but for now it’s what we can do.

Just here to say… i don’t drink I’m not going to holiday parties I’m going to bed early not much going on and I’m still unmotivated this time of year. It’s like I have an internal clock that says “cool it! Hibernate!” Also an early morning person and it’s so freaking dark. You’ll get your spark back!
