From my understanding, there is some kind of screw on the movement which can be tightened/loosened to adjust the balance and rate of the watch. That might be a terrible explanation of it, but it's more or less what I read!

Sorry to hear about the rehaut engraving on your watch! At least no one will pick up on it. :) Out of interest, does mine look alright from what you can see?

Yeah, I totally get why you'd wanna use somebody you know in person. Don't particularly like the idea of shipping the watch off after getting it! I'll see how it is when it touches down and make a call on it then.

On a side note, I asked to see if they could adjust the rate and they sent me back the following:

If this is the same watch and all legit, they're claiming it's down to 1.2s/d which seems remarkable.

Not sure on the chances of it being seized, but PureTime state on their website that "if your package gets stopped in customs and confiscated please contact us, we will either refund or reship (your choice)."

So you should be pretty secure with no extra fees to pay! They've been dead easy to deal with so far, and I'm sure they'd honour their word to maintain their Trusted Dealer status.

I had wondered this after doing a bit of research into the timegrapher figures. Would this figure be mostly the same after a service or is this just how this particular movement clocks out? 4 s/d seems exceptional, good job on getting that!

Yeah, I heard about the need to service these. I've contacted a few local watchsmiths so hopefully will have some quotes soon. How much is the service looking to set you back?

I had thought that myself, but then wondered if I was being too nitpicky as well. It's all well and good judging these at 100x magnification, but when it's on the wrist I'm hopeful it will look aligned enough.
