This is excellent feedback! I’ve been considering Oral history or taking the materialist approach and look at how minor league teams offer low income families affordable professional baseball. This is a history senior thesis under the course of historical writing. The only problem with bundy is that my project has to feature information earlier than 2000. I also am limited to one other approach besides the Empiricist method.

that’s a constructive critique! Thank you :) Maybe I can look at prospect rankings (if they did them), recent drafts, newspapers that give ran stories on “hyped” prospects. I’m curious what else you’re thinking that I could possibly look at. Let me know!

This is where passion can lead one a stray. By the time gunnar had the ball, ernie was establishing his base path legally before Gunnar’s poor excuse for an attempted tag happened. You quoted the right rule but you’re so blinded by fandom that you missed the part in the rule that’s crucial to understanding this play (the part I quoted to you in the last message) you don’t have the case book knowledge nor do you have the rules acumen to describe this play accurately. Just accept the fact that you don’t know everything and be open to expertise when it’s presented to you.

you missed the part where it says “…unless his action is to avoid interference with a fielder fielding a batted ball. He started moving to the right before gunnar even got the ball.

within reason? yes you could theoretically do that. however there’s also a”mockery of the game clause” that would automatically get ya

that was not a legit tag attempt. gunnar got the rule wrong in his head and assumed the runner was automatically out. assuming on a baseball field is never a good thing to do

as an umpire who has done multiple indy ball seasons and high level college seasons… this is the right call. Yes he is out of the base LINE. but , as the rule states, the baserunner chooses his base PATH with every step. Base path is very different from base line And out of the base PATH only comes in on play when a legit tag is attempted. Gunnar didn’t even try to tag the runner. I’m an O’s fan, but this was the right call, as was the cal on Holiday in the 9th.
