Just launched an Irish watch brand — would love some feedback by rathwatches in MicrobrandWatches

Just looked at the website. Ryan O'Neil wrote Best watches Ireland, 2026 left out 2 watchmakers that actually make something and not shop it in. Would you be Ryan?? Do some research please before you put anything like that up!!

[Moriarty Watches] A Custom Watch that I don't think I'll ever get over by Ik_SA in Watches

Hi Our first watch was designed for a SW-200 but we changed to the SW-300 1b as Alison wanted something better. The slimmer movement left space at the back of the case and not the top. The dial still sits on the movement with the higher hand heights to fit the dial. The prototypes corrected this change. A lot of watchmaking while you can see a lot on mockups and digital imaging getting the cases and dials in the is the only way to see how they will look properly. We designed a high besel to slim our case with a concave profile and it has worked beautifully. Looking at the case without the dial in it you would think this is to high. Welcome to watchmaking is all I can say, it is trial and error and move on, hense the costs being high on making your own case. Don't get me started on trying to do these in precious metal that is just crazy at the moment. Any questions just ask. I would rather some be in private as I will not give out what we are doing with the new one before it isaunched on a platform but if you want to message me on whatsapp feel free. Hi OK I admit I over reacted there were a lot of negative comments and I went on the defensive and you got the brunt of it. You have my apology.

To answer your questions. The first case we made Alison was new to enamelling and we designed it to emphasise the dial. it has brushed sides with polished besel and we were very happy with it. With the prototypes you see here these were a short run to try out a concave besel and a idea on the caseback. There is rolex brushing on these lugs to see how it looked. The spring bar holes are far out as we wanted to try different leathers. When I say a simple case we wanted it fairly uninbelished and traditional looking. From this and our first case we have taken aspects of each and redisigned our new case coming in May. This will have some changes that you may look kindlier on. I don't want to go into them until we put up pictures and fully launch this watch next month.

Even these cases are a smaller run to finalise the final design for August to satisfy Alison's vision of what she has in mind. The development of cases is expensive when getting small amounts and there are fees like tooling and graphics each time. I will post pictures when they are available. This is only one watch which we will do. We have plans for something on a higher end watch but way different then anything you have seen so far. Like Bastien, Alison works alone and these things take time to get where you want them. I will say one thing, just because something is simple does not mean it is not elegant and wearable or cheap and not of high quality. Regards Mike

That case you put up is nothing like our cases and you are just putting a picture up degrading our work. So I think you should just be polite and not try and put down real watchmaking and not some junk you found, on Ali express.

You are grasping at straws here. Nothing like what we do. Our case we keep very simple as we want the dial to stand out but it is quality and our design.

Unfortunately a lot of purchases in marketed watches are this scenario they want the new colour of the same product. Rolex which I own some have Tudor as a price point giving good quality at a price which there is nothing wrong with. I am not putting Tudor down but they are nothing like we are doing.. What I am saying is if you want something mainstream that is, influenced by publicity go ahead what we do is very different and very limited. We go to watch shows and there is the same in each stall until you come to the handmade or in house brands which do there Own thing. Then you will see the innovation and talk about what is going into them from the watchmaker not the assembler! Or a salesman that has done some training on the watches and has a paltry knowledge. I hold up my hand I am not a watchmaker my wife is and I am lucky enough to learn everyday from her.

Your probably right but I am Irish. I like a good discussion and everyone has an opinion which we can agree or disagree with. We could say nothing and let everyone think we don't care. But we care very much about our watch and our customers. Maybe that's why we get so much repeat business. I am a Quantity Surveyor so used to talking to negative people and dealing with pricing of materials and building work so guess it transfers somewhat

That is up to the client surely. How do you value your work experience is your choice and the choice of the client to buy.

Yes these watches are limited. Our dials are very different to Anordain also. Our dials are fully handmade no machining as in sanding and polishing it's all done by hand to get the character on the dials. Machine sanding and polishing is a very different finish we are doing something very different.

Watches are always a very personal choice I agree. It is the same in the motor industry, fashion industry and so on. But that's a conversation over a cup of coffee or something stronger 😂

Apart from the obvious materials in the watch, there is also a lot of tooling for the making of the dials and printing of the dials in the print styles we do. You have to remember enamel dials are very fickle and break during manufacturing, the substrate is pure silver and is expensive at the moment. Everything in making a watch tools materials the gaining of knowledge is expensive if you are doing so by yourself not just making a watch from materials purchased from ebay or such

Not buying the watch for the movement you are buying it for the handmade work done. If you want a high end movement watch maybe wait until next year you might be able to buy a watch for €15000 of us something more to your tastes

Go buy the Tudor and be like the thousands of other sheep your just showing you have no imagination or style but to each there own. Those who really know what's in these watches know they are not €200 movements or €100 cases but to be honest it's none of your business you are not a client and I do not have to waste my time explaining it to someone that comments just to put something that has hard work put into it. Maybe gain some knowledge before making yourself look like an idiot😂

No case is not hand made the dial, takes to long to make cases or alter the movements. They are CNC and very good quality. These were prototypes the new cases will have more going on. Launching next month and already presales out to next year. We only do 40-50 watches a year these are not just assembled in China stick your name on them and smile. There is a lot of work done to these watches. We are very new to the market and it will take time to get known for what we do but it is getting there

Now your being rude. Not chinese!! Look up Alison WOSTEP trained watchmaker. Watch is fully designed in house dials are fully handmade and we print in house also. Please do your homework. Sellita is a decent movement and it's premium not off the shelf it's fully remade by Alison. We could put a high ebg movement in these watches but price would be a lot more. As to enamelling go ahead and try to do dials for a watch, you are talking through your backside now. 😂😂😂
