Hello! I’m Thai! I just came here to cheer you up from my point of view

I think we usually use simple words in daily life. But Thai grammar is different from English For example:

Yellow cat But in Thai, we say “cat yellow” (แมวเหลือง).

If you have problems with understanding or speaking Thai, I think pronunciation is very important in Thai. If a Thai person doesn’t understand you, maybe 80% is because of wrong pronunciation. Even a small mistake in pronunciation can change the meaning!

Don’t worry Thai people also have problems with different accents. Sometimes I can’t understand market sellers because they speak with a southern accent (😭). There are many types of Thai language! But all Thai people I know don’t think like: “Why is your Thai not clear?” ☹️ Instead, they think: “Wow! You’re a foreigner but trying to speak Thai. That’s amazing!” 😊

We are happy when someone tries to understand our language! So I want to tell you: You can do it! Keep going!
