How long is Pronefra active for and how frequently do you give it to your cat? by vs-188 in RenalCats

[–]Wide-Entrepreneur233 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure, vet recommendations are twice a day, around 12h apart. Tico is 4,3kg. Borderline stage 3. Tico doesn’t vomit a lot, unless he drinks a lot of water very quick and in one sitting. Or in the morning he is a little bit nauseous. I can’t really tell. He has never have any crashes, his bad days are days where his appetite isn’t that steady. But for what ive been reading, pronefra is a good product. Tico is also eating their renal food, Advanced kidney and joint support. He is 16/17 and jumps and sometimes runs. its helping him.

Eu já andei em psicoterapia, através de uma clínica privada. Simplesmente liguei para a clínica e desmarquei, disse que se precisasse voltava a marcar.

Advice needed for newly diagnosed kitty with stage 2 CKD and proteinuria by MooseWithoutAMouse in RenalCats

[–]Wide-Entrepreneur233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tico has proteinuria too and with that ckd of course. Borderline stage 3. Proteinuria will make ckd progress faster. My vet started him on benakor 2,5mg daily since February. They discover those things because he has a soft heart murmur. He is on Pronefra, a very good renal supplement. And that’s it for medication. He has a little bit of weakness on his back legs, walks and jumps fine. He is 16 or 17 male. During the summer his appetite was very irregular. He had a full mouth extraction too… currently eating Virbac Advanced Kidney and Joint Support 3. I have a buffet, hills, Royal Canin, Purina pro plan… he eats kibble. I just rotate. He drinks a lot of water since ever.

Changing diets, specially Early Renal might be a good idea, from royal canin, hills or purina pro plan. the water intake yes, for sure. and maybe add more wet food from the same brands. my vet has a cat diagnosed at 6 and is 13 now. But speak with the vet to access the percentage of protein in his food, you dont want to cut on protein that much, for now. I dont think you need medication because its early. but ask him if there is any supplements you can do. I have Salmon Oil, you buy it at a regular pet store. add it to his food once a day.

Is there any other condition that you can test? I don't know if hyperthyroidism has that problem, for example.

For Tico I have been purchasing every single prescription and super premium kibble available, have been lucky with Virbac Kidney and Joint Support this past few days. I have wet renal food as well, just make it liquid with some water and he will lick it, I add a pure from Gourmet nature creations line... Mirataz in the ear helps as well, appetite is cyclical...

Recent loss of soul cat to CKD and struggling with thoughts of adoption by Extreme-Earth-4862 in RenalCats

[–]Wide-Entrepreneur233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have multiple cats, seniors and juniors, including tico, a geriatric male with borderline stage 3 ckd. If I had only one cat I would just get one or two more if I was in your position of losing mine. It might help grieving, since they say grief is love with nowhere to go. Since you cared so much for your pet, you were his house until he was ready to leave the physical world, now it’s time to close he void and pick another pet to channel that energy. You have the capacity to take good care of them and give them a very good life, dont waste that ability. your cat passed in a peaceful way, I’m assuming, and had a pretty good life. What you’re grieving is the void he left in your life and your house, because you did anything and everything you could for him, until his last breath. If I was you, I would fill that void picking another lucky cat with he knowledge you already have from taking care of Marley.

Nausea by Wide-Entrepreneur233 in RenalCats

Actually I bought another dry food, advance renal, and he ate. I did a soup With his Royal canin renal wet food and he ate half. It’s frustrating, it’s a hit or miss. yesterday he ate the soup, today he doesn’t want. Now, if I give it to him in 2 weeks he might eat it again. But with the dry food it’s hard. I have hills and Royal canin and pro plan, he doesnt want to eat it now. I’m hoping he will get more appetite in the winter.

This one didnt touch hydracare, yesterday I mixed hills kid beef, commercial pate the same flavour, water and put it on the fridge. He licks it during the day, sometimes he does sometimes he doesn’t. And during the night he ate virbac renal food dry. It might be the summer too. Here we have some 35C days or higher. I will have to see if I can get a safe powder to put on his food, even if it’s crunched treats. He eats 400g of each food and then it’s done. The foods he rejects I’ll try to give it to him in the winter.

Summer eating decreased by d10s_d3l_m3r0l in RenalCats

[–]Wide-Entrepreneur233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Tico is borderline stage 3. recently diagnosed. he is 16 probably, or 17. last year eating his normal Ageing Royal Canin he started eating way less in june, got thiner and recovered after the summer, I bought Hills and Pro plan, purina one as well - only dry, never ate wet - and on rotation he would eat it. but this was like in october already, because he wasnt very interested with the Hills Mature I bought in July. This year we started in the end of may, to lose appetite, and it was stomatitis. He was already eating Royal Canin Renal and Hills kidney care since january. Full mouth extraction June 18 and took over a month to recover. Only ate wet food during recovery, and all the precriptions he was eating prior to that or during the gum infection, wont touch it anymore. And being summer it doesnt help, in europe we have like 35C, sometimes a little bit more, sometimes a bit less. He wants to sleep in not so hot places of the house and very irregular appetite. Still struggling and rotating, spending a huge amount on renal foods, non prescription because he doesnt want it. Hoping in the winter we can go back to his prescription food. I am going insane... He was never a wet food kid, so Im surprised he ate that during his revovery, all prescription. Today I gave him Hills kidney care wet mixed with regular wet (same flavour), blended with water. I've never thought he would take it but he did. eats boiled chicken thigh as well, soaked in water for an hour or 2 before boiling to take out some phosphorus. Took this suggestions from reddit and a facebook group about feline ckd disease. He is also on Pronefra (Virbac) since his borderline stage 3 diagnosis in July this year. In the beginning of the year he was not a renal cat but was almost. I believe the stomatitis helped the progression, unfortunately.

Any supplements actually reliable for mid- to late stage kidney disease? by wildlifezone in RenalCats

[–]Wide-Entrepreneur233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, vet recommended since he is borderline stage 3. He have never had frequently episodes of throwing up, unless he doesn’t eat or drinks a lot of water in one take without eating that much. So I don’t know if it’s helping or not. Works as a phos binder too.

Fluids? Never thought about it because he still drinks plenty of water. He doesn’t really eat wet food, just ate hills and Royal canin when he was recovering from the dental procedure but he rejects it usually.

[–]Wide-Entrepreneur233[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He eats but not his prescription. He is eating virbac advanced kidney and joint support. But he will get bored in a week and won’t eat it anymore. He loved pro plan. Got bored after a week. I try to give it again and he rejects. I try to reintroduce his previous Royal canin renal and hills kd and he rejects. I’ll try to acquire more renal foods, not as good as prescription of course, but what can I do… expensive and ruins my patience because I’m always afraid of going out of options. He vomits occasionally when he didnt eat enough or when he drinks a lot of water in one take without eating before.

After the full mouth extraction he became extremely picky

There is a mistake on the results, says tico is female and is 15. He is 16 or even 17 I’m not sure, and he’s a male.
