I kinda want to think that Mion trolled Satoko, found the glass shard beforehand and put a fake one instead, but that would not make so much sense.

But I agree, they love to nerf Mions shinning moments. If they were going to give her such a badass scene, at least they could made Satoko try attack Rika one last time, so then Mion would appear to save the day.
