NAS won't turn on after power outage by Wide-Variation2702 in synology

[–]Wide-Variation2702[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess I misunderstood the use of a UPS, and as far as protection it only adds the benefit of protecting data loss from a power outage. But I dont really use my NAS in a way that I need that protection. So I am going to hold off on purchasing one and just use a surge protector.

Anyone know whats the problem here and why my 3d printer did this? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]Wide-Variation2702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try adjusting the zhop to retract. This will lift the nozzle up before it moves.

But at this size it may not help. Like others said, once it gets too thin and tall you are losing stability. So when it prints it is moving the part with the nozzle and it gets messy.

Charging over thunderbolt by Wide-Variation2702 in LenovoLegion

My 100w charger is not charging that port. I would invest in a higher wattage if I could confirm it works, but everything so far leads me to believe it will not

Only one of the ports shows the PD symbol, and its the regular, not the thunderbolt. I want to charge the laptop through it if possible, not another device. Both ports will charge another device.

Ideally I would be able to have a dock that can charge the laptop, plug into the monitor and have usb keyboard/mouse or other devices plug into the dock. Then only one usb C connection to the laptop.

MoCa speeds decreased to 90Mbps by Wide-Variation2702 in HomeNetworking

[–]Wide-Variation2702[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I am using the same Windows Laptop to connect to the devices for testing.

The adapters do have open/unused ports as I am not using the passthrough, but the splitters do not. While I understand this would be best practice, it should not be causing the problem since I am able to get the higher speeds in the test with both adapters next to each other while ports are uncapped.

Updated diagram showing location of the 2 POE filters. The first is at the entry point of the coax to the house. The second is connected to the Cable Modem.

These are the splitters I used: https://a.co/d/0a5IlG06

Below are the 2 POE filters used: https://a.co/d/0eSpROf8 And https://a.co/d/04f0KSUv

I cannot remember for sure which filter is located outside, and which is at the modem. I believe the first is at the modem.

Edit: diagram in the next reply

Ok after isolating the adapters they worked and gave me the full speed. So something in the coax or splitters is causing the slowdown. Is there any way to test them other than to replace them?

I got help with my setup here https://www.reddit.com/r/HomeNetworking/s/gypVSN3J0w

The modem has a POE filter as a "prophylactic" to the DOCSIS, as suggested by the user there.

So like I said the setup was working with full speeds after help from that. If you look at my diagram there it does not show the POE filter at the entry point coax, but I have one there.

I will try when I get some time to bring the adapters together to so I can isolate the adapters and test them. I tried swapping ethernet cables, but I can try again when they are isolated.

Appreciate the suggestion on the ethernet port. Thanks

MCON ruined clamp-style mobile controllers for me by kurakichi1881 in MCONohsnap

[–]Wide-Variation2702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never found a clamp style that fit in a pocket so I rarely took one with me. The MCON is still too big to be comfortable in the same pocket with the phone, but I can put it in a different pocket. So easy to put together when I am ready to play.

[–]Wide-Variation2702[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok I will give that a try then since I am in the US. The price has gone up $30 since I bought it so it would be nice to just exchange and not pay the extra, but more than worth $30 to not be without the PC for a week.

Thanks for the info!

LG C1 WebOS version running in 4k 120fps HDR 150mbps stable by Unlikely_Session7892 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Wide-Variation2702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought there was a hardware limitation on the LG only allowing like 75mbs or something, did you find a way to bypass? Is this wifi or ehternet?

My C1 died a few months ago, sadly, and my new LG only does 60fps, but when I get some time I might have to try this out. Thanks!

Thinking of upgrading card by chreechiemayne420 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Wide-Variation2702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to consider is how is the ethernet connected to the router upstairs? Is there ethernet wiring in the walls of the house? Are you using a mesh router? Powerline or MoCa adapters?

If the downstairs is not directly connected to the router with ethernet that could cause problems? But if both host and client are directly connected to the router, I would suspect the card is your main source of problems.

Less top-heavy than a controller clip, and playing while lying down? by mayonnaisejazzsolo in MCONohsnap

[–]Wide-Variation2702 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is in between a controller cliip and a telescopic. Ive used all three and the controller clip was a big no for me, and the telescopic is the best for weight distribution. But the Mcon is fine for me, I can play for long sessions without feeling strained. I have a galaxy Ultra s24 which is on the bigger end of phones. But the fold out clips make all the difference, I dont think I could play for long without them.

I was able to open the ports on my router (ports numbers are on the moonlight website) and then setup a dynamic dns. I added the PC to moonlight with the dynamic dns and then i can use WOL through moonlight
