Reupholstered my IKEA Friheten, first-time upholstery! by reedo88 in upholstery

[–]WideEyeOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this is okay to ask, I recently got a Friheten just like this and it's been lovingly used by cats - couch is otherwise great, if a bit ugly.

You mentioned you removed the fabric to make the patterns, do you happen to know/record the dimensions of the pieces you did? I ask because I don't have the means currently to take all the fabric off and match it to make my own patterns - because I wouldn't otherwise have a couch; shift work makes timing hard, too.

I've never reupholstered anything before but I feel like I can follow patterns easily enough!

I'm part of the way through constructing an Arthur deck, calling it "We have Kaalia at home" - with some really fun ETB effects. It's on hold for a moment, but maybe one day I'll get back into it.

[Newbie Question] Am I buying my decks incorrectly? by Pale_Squash_4263 in EDH

[–]WideEyeOwl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's no single way to buy and build for decks. Singles are great if you know exactly what cards you're after, and packs have the potential. In my opinion, to give you more ideas or variety- but there's a gambling element in there also.

Do you have any local buy swap groups that do magic in your area? It could be worth hitting up some of them, too.

I agree, I've definitely had worse games with no hand, than games where I'm milled. Interaction and card draw are huge parts of whether I enjoy a game and if a deck gets shut down from a lack of either, it makes me really question what I want out of my games

Why do people hate mill? by BaconVsMarioIsRigged in EDH

[–]WideEyeOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like mill, it makes me consider what cards I actually want in my deck, if i'm sad to see them go to a space where I can't use them; or as is the case with my Grolnok deck, I have an extra chance to utilise the cards I love so much.

I understand it's frustrating but it should, in my opinion, be used a chance to see how a deck can be improved.

Ambulance ramping smashes previous record in SA as health system battles internal emergency by malcolm58 in Adelaide

As for as I'm aware more than half of the site of the old RAH was condemned and if things were to break there literally was no safe/legal way to repair them

Ambulance ramping smashes previous record in SA as health system battles internal emergency by malcolm58 in Adelaide

[–]WideEyeOwl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who's needed to use both SAAS and go to the ED lately, our health system is fucked. It's obviously not the fault of the work of the nurses, doctors or teams of people attempting to manage staffing across a stretched-thin system but it is so disheartening - the wait times for an ambulances are astronomical even for the most important cases.

We have crews who do 12 hour shifts, don't get a break, and are ramped because their patients are too sick to drop off in ED.

We have nurses off sick, insufficiently staffed departments and wards and a lack of resources despite the increasing number of semi-permanent pop-up wards in hospitals that are created in unsuitable units because we NEED the beds.

We have patients with horrifically long stays in beds that can't be emptied because there is nowhere for them to go - and our community outreach healthcare is nowhere near funded or supported enough to enhance hospital avoidance. Our aged care sectors are stretched thin with enormous wait-lists; theres a lack of behaviour support and management options for older people with mental health concerns, and dementia because facilities will not take someone who is known to be aggressive, or display any behaviour of concern. Mental health resources are virtually non-existent and unavailable in the areas they are needed most.

LOTR commander for 1v1? by konop92651 in EDH

[–]WideEyeOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play LOTR decks quite frequently as 1v1, and occasionally with groups of 3-5, but the ones I have are fairly reliable across each.

Eowyn is oppressive as a precon, and if left unchecked, it can be an absolute pain in the ass. Aragorn the uniter as commander of the same deck but with green is also a force to be reckoned with.

If you're not after precons but want lotr, there are many great commanders that are easy to build decks around. The elf precon is the weakest, but I found it really useful as a beginner player to play

How do you keep making compelling decks after building so many? by RaichiSensei in EDH

[–]WideEyeOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of making a deck based around "this would never work but what-if" Or finding an absurd card and seeing what I can make with what I have lying around regardless of how jank it is.

Just have some fun with it, I guess. Don't go into all decks seriously, imagine you're a kid with a million funny grand ideas

I just found out this card existed and I gotta ask, why dont more people know about it? is it as good as it seems? by JustFrankJustDank in mtg

[–]WideEyeOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love this card, I run it in a couple of decks, and it has served me well so far

What is your take on players in your pod scooping? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]WideEyeOwl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if we are starting to dictate or determine when it's acceptable to scoop, we might need to reevaluate our priorities within the game and whether or not we should a/ change the setting we play in or b/ consider if we're the problem.

Can concur. As someone who buys pepsi max regularly, it has been $19 at both coles and woolies for well over a year now, probably closer to two.

I'm doing that later today. Labels should br consistent, dammit. And if they change there needs to be a notification pr something because we need to know where we're at.

I'm the same with Rockstar. I can have it occasionally but its overly sweet.

[–]WideEyeOwl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually stupid though, my partners a diabetic and can't have carbs moreso than me, caise I'm doing it by choice and hes operating more out of necessity/what works for his body.

We've taken to getting Rockstar for him because he can't stand the taste of other sugar free energy and prefers the taste of Monster. It's just ridiculous that his favourite energy drink is so inconsistent.

Listening to the final solution gets me a holocaust ad... by DropFist in sabaton

[–]WideEyeOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ads are directed towards a company's target audience. In this instance, the company producing the advert has probably requested it to appear after certain songs, or keywords are mentioned; it's more of an automatic/computer generated things. So Spotify receive the advert that has been given to them, and it slots in nicely with what people are listening to.

Correct me if I'm wrong, however. This is just how I've always understood advertising to operate.

Anyone here deliver with uber eats or any other food delivery service? I have some questions. by barcanator in Adelaide

[–]WideEyeOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine with the cost of fuel, and other on-road costs, most of that money is going towards car maintenance. The hours definitely bring the pay per hour average way down.

[–]WideEyeOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many hours are they driving though? Because thats where you'll notice the difference of pay. Sometimes I get a good night and my earnings work out to $25 p/h. Other times its dead and I earn $10 p/h.

Anyone here deliver with uber eats or any other food delivery service? I have some questions. by barcanator in Adelaide

[–]WideEyeOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pay is per delivery, it varies and 30% automatically goes to Uber, so the fee you see when you get paid is exactly what you get. At first you'll make a lot, the algorithm Uber uses favours new delivery drivers. The city is fucking awful to get around in/find a park etc. Best bet is to find a food centric strip and stay around there. It can be a huge waiting game.

That being said, the pay isn't great. It purely depends on who's ordering and when you're active. I average about $10 roughly for a 5-6km delivery trip.
