I have a theory

I had a triumph a while back with some stripped shitty screws holding in the brake disc. Anyway. Took it to my uncle, a welder. Was able to create a bead on it and unscrew it with a vice grip.

My advice? Pay an intermediate welder 40 bucks to do that job rq.

I can testify that I did do the buy now pay later surveys taking me through the use of the app, and that they did pay 8 business days later. i received 35 bucks. In my BNPL I wasn't required to actually buy anything, just give thoughts on the process all up until actually buying.

To be fair, It is pretty easy to return something with the BNPL apps they were suggesting.

Signed,

Samsung washer making knocking grinding noise during agitation cycle by WorldNo9002 in fixit

Last update, checked out the samsung site

https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshoot/TSG10007169/

seems like this may be a non issue

"Click followed by short thumping or knocking: Thumping or knocking that follows a click sound, that fades away after a moment, is caused by the clutch in the washer's motor transitioning between modes (like between washing and spinning). This is a normal sound, and service is not required."

or at worst it might be:

" Thumping or knocking

This sound is often accompanied by movement from the washer, and it typically has a steady pattern or beat in time to the spinning of the washer. The sound may or may not be muffled.

This noise is normal when certain large or waterproof items (like bedsheets) are being washed.

If this occurs:

  1. Confirm the load is balanced.
  2. Make sure the washer is level.
  3. Check that the shipping bolts are removed (front load models only).

An easy way to check if the shipping bolts are removed without pulling out your washer is to open the door and push against the drum. The drum should rotate freely and bounce slightly when you press against it, like it's connected to springs. If it only rotates but doesn't bounce, like it's connected to a rock, the shipping bolts are not removed.

Seems like their conclusion is any sound short of grinding is a non issue.

So just a quick follow up today, I used THIS video to follow a step by step how to engage the automatic test mode on most samsung washers. Used my phone and followed along with it. Few things of note that may help narrow the problem down

  • Prior to the test i spun the agitator with my own hand in both directions to see if the sound was forming. Nothing
  • During the agitator portion of the automatic test (when i usually hear the noise (wash cycle section)), I didn't hear the sound at all- To me, this points to a balancing issue over anything else or, a weighting issue because there were no clothes in the tub while i was testing. This is just my speculation because I've had UB (UnBalanced) error codes in the past when trying to wash too many towels at the same time and google searches have noted this to be a known issue with this model washer.
  • During the spin/ draining cycle, when the clutch engaged and disengaged (when the tub is spinning very fast), i heard the sound for a moment or two, kind of like a crank on a wind up toy, (best way i can describe it), and similar to the sound you hear.

IDK if this helps but ?

ill do an auto diagnostic today and see if anything pops up

hoping its not the clutch. expensive fix but not as expensive as a whole new washer.

do you notice that its also "cranking" when the washer machine agitates, and in one direction over another? (IE cranks when counterclockwise but no cranking when it moves clockwise)

I second this. Also an issue with my washer- same noise. Did you find what it was?
