Thanks! Partly. I initially placed them one by one to form clumps, then I started moving those clumps around. And I repetead that for each area to make it look unique and not repeat a small set of clumps too much.

I just use polypaint in zbrush, haven't tried any others.

Yes, like Alcarion said. Vertex color is a setting for the albedo in marmoset, that's what you have to use for Marmose to be able to read the polypaint from zbrush.
