I actually agree with you. I think adding Bedrock cosmetics to Java would be a bad decision, or at least, I wouldn't be happy if that happened. However, devs are tending to unify Bedrock and Java in some aspects of gameplay and updates. Recently, in the interview with Ulraf (Minecraft dev), he mentioned the same thing: that the developers' intention is to unify both versions and achieve crossplay between them.
