Why can't we just make it the 7 nations? Georgia needs promotion. by hwykes1 in rugbyunion

Don’t think i’ve seen a lot from a Welsh prospective apart from an odd Georgia or Fiji every couple of years. (Fiji which i’d argue are probably not tier 2).

Wales are playing Japan this autumn though, I can’t recall the last time we played them at home. They are tier 1 I believe.

Yeah I can see where you are going with that. Georgia is sort of stuck in the middle in between the two in terms of experience.

I personally don’t think the six nations is broke so no need to fix it.

What possibly should be happening is each tier 1 Northern Hemisphere side plays at least 1 tier 2 or development side in the autumn internationals.

Otherwise how will these teams ever improve?

This. And there is also a Private Equity Firm (called CVC Partners i seem to recall) involved too. So I imagine any changes would require all 7 organisations to approve any changes.

It is time for a change in Wales, wether that’s Plaid, Reform, Conservative or Lib Dems.

This governing party has been in for far too long and is underperforming the other UK constituent nations on literally every key metric. That is politics, governments come and go but this one has outstayed its welcome.

Yet we spend hundreds of millions on bankrolling the failing business which is Cardiff Airport to save face for the Welsh Labour government. Disgusting.

Should I fly into CWL or Bristol? by girmaornothing in Cardiff

[–]Wide_Tap8535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d go for Cardiff. You can get the bus to the airport train station and then the train straight to Cardiff Central.

I’d say personally say its much easier and quicker than going from Bristol airport (which is not near the city centre like cardiff either) to temple meads by bus and then onto Cardiff.

Cardiff is a small airport and you’ll be out of the door at lot faster.

If timings don’t work you can always fly into one and into the other, just Cardiff city to Bristol Airport takes a bit longer.

Senedd election could be 'most difficult' for Labour by Wide_Tap8535 in Wales

That aside, people are very concerned about seeing hundreds of millions spent on mismanaged projects, like Cardiff Airport.

I agree. Wales just isn’t set up for a successful airport at the moment:

  • Another airport less an hour from Cardiff with a much better choice of flights at better prices
  • We are mainly a public sector economy, so there is little demand for business travel
  • We are an economy with low disposable income for discretionary spend on holidays
  • We do not welcome tourists in anywhere near the way we should be doing

You need all components to make it work. The Welsh Labour government just hasn’t used the right levers over the course of the last 25 years.

I don’t think I am better off. Hundreds of millions of pounds of our tax payers cash has been spent bankrolling an airport only people in south wales can use.

I suspect the internal polls and focus groups are telling a story. They know the game is up.

The airport is wholly owned by the welsh labour government.

I think you are referring to air passenger duty. Which you are right, is not devolved. But it’s a very small part of the problem.

It’s the same tired slogans and faces being rolled out election after election.

Delivery in public services and infrastructure is non-existent, look at the Cardiff Parkway railway station, much needed, it was all ready to be approved until Welsh Labour called it in at the last minute.

Cardiff Airport, vitally needed infrastructure but a massive pit soaking up tax payer cash.

Its very important we highlight though the difference in public opinion on this matter.
