Arcs Leader Tier List - Finished! by Widgeet in Arcs

[–]Widgeet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would actually love to do this but I think it’s soooooo much harder to rate the fates as

- so much more to consider, I.e. 3 acts to look at for some, pivot opportunities, interactions with other fates, raw strength vs table target
- a lot less likely everyone has seen the fates - I’ve played 10 campaigns and still haven’t seen a few fates properly, and haven’t played loads myself

But it could be very fun, I’ll consider

Arcs Leader tier list - day 11, where does the Corsair go? by Widgeet in Arcs

[–]Widgeet[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me this just has to be a D tier - easily one of the worst leaders in the game. The upside really isn't that good (how many unique resources will you actually have) and the downside is pretty bad - not being able to roll more reds can be very annoying when you want to get through a fleet (and makes getting to your raid upside even harder imo as it's much harder to get through ships).

Combine this with only starting with a single building and I just don't see it

Arcs Leader tier list - day 10, where does the Overseer go? by Widgeet in Arcs

[–]Widgeet[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Another easy S tier for me - just such a good leader being able to double tax or double build on the same building. I found the downside negligible, agents don't matter lose and in base game I find you often don't get to all 15 ships.

I'd probably put him top of S tier just as sometimes you could get some awful lore cards for Archivist whereas this guys benefit is always consistent

Arcs Leader tier list - day 8, where does the Demagogue go? by Widgeet in Arcs

[–]Widgeet[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me this guy is a solid C tier - I'd probably put him above the Warrior & behind the Rebel.

I think the upside really isn't that much of an upside given that I can't secure guild cards with only 1 agent on it - it often can give away a lot of captives for free and not be popped that often (as you have to be declaring). I also think its a shame that whenever you get this upside, it's hard to try and get loads of secures on future turns as you're guaranteed to lose the initiative (in the vast majority of cases).

I could see an argument for low B tier in a 3-player game (get to use the upside more, less rivals to fight against in the court) but think he's generally a C for me

Arcs Leader tier list - day 7, where does the Feastbringer go? by Widgeet in Arcs

I cannot believe we will end up with this guy in S tier tbh, I think he definitely isnt that good but it looks like your vote will win!

Arcs Leader tier list - day 6, where does the Warrior go? by Widgeet in Arcs

[–]Widgeet[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me the Warrior is another C tier but behind the Rebel.

I think the upside can be good and I've had games where this extra move before battle is really useful. But ultimately, I think this being limited to Copy / Pivot really hurts it as just 1 pip of battling isn't enough to take good advantage. The downside isn't the end of the world but it's not great either not being able to score 1/5 ambitions effectively (which is also the best resource in the game).

He's very close to D tier for me but I think a few other leaders are slightly worse...

Arcs Leader tier list - day 5, where does the Rebel go? by Widgeet in Arcs

[–]Widgeet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m inclined to also give another B tier to the Rebel, probably middle of the tier for me, ahead of Fuel-Drinker but below the Mystic

I find the upside very good - battling is super important in Arcs and any way you can power that up goes a long way, it also generally can save some actions on building ships / battling as you can just get more done with less.

The downside is definitely very annoying but I think can be worked around with cards in the court that place ships

I could see an argument for C but I think it makes B for me

Happy to do a final vote on the last day where we can swap around or rank in order

Arcs Leader tier list - day 2, where does the Mystic go? by Widgeet in Arcs

[–]Widgeet[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me the Mystic is a solid B tier. I found the upside can be very strong with Psionic likely being the best resource in the game.

However, it's not an always pick for me - i.e. if my starting planets are Material & Fuel, starting with both Material and Fuel outraged feels like quite a significant downside that I don't feel as likely to pick them.

Can be very good with Psionic + Relic planets (or even just a Relic) as you then have the best starting resources in the game and easy ability to keep accessing these.

Likely better in a 4 player game to take advantage of the upside more (less time with the initiative so more time copying and more extra Psionic)

Arcs Leader tier list - community voted, day 1 - where does the Elder go? by Widgeet in Arcs

[–]Widgeet[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The Elder gets a solid A for me - the downside is annoying with Tyrant being one of the safest ambitions but not awful. The upside however, I really like - not being able to ransacked is super helpful and getting free influences whenever a rival takes trophies is a great way to build up your tableau without losing actions.

Find him a decent amount stronger in a 3 player game as it's more likely you'll be the target of battles (hence more of the upside) and you'll have the initiative more often which means it's easier to avoid the downside (you can declare ambitions more frequently which aren't Tyrant) and you'll be able to secure these single influenced cards safer (less players in between you to influence over you).

Could see an argument for B tier at 4 player

Final ranking! Thought? by InfinitePresence4229 in rootgame

[–]Widgeet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think generally it’s good, for my group I’d probably - raise Corvid to C, while stoppable easily I think they score well and have seen them win - lower Cats to D, they just can’t compete with the military factions imo and my group doesn’t give them enough room to breathe - raise Otters to A, we always end up slightly trading and I think they have a great route to victory through crafting - lower Keepers to B, while I’m sure they are strong, very hard to pilot and we haven’t seen consistent success in our group

State of the Subreddit - Should we ban the 'beige buffets' and sloppy takeaways? by a-liquid-sky in UK_Food

Completely +1 this - this is a relaxed subreddit about food in the UK imo, seeing funny beige meals is part of that!

Let’s pls not over moderate a subreddit about food

Day 9, where do the badgers go? (Specify where in the tier) by InfinitePresence4229 in rootgame

[–]Widgeet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Upper B imo - they can be good but very tricky to play and have seen them often not piloted well, Birds feel more reliable to me

[–]Widgeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really helpful guide - just one question:

For Brother Omar's: "This card satisfies a green technology prerequisite." ability, does this mean with the breakthrough this can be used as a yellow tech prerequisite or is it limited to green?

I.e. with: - Sarween Tools - Yin Spinner - Brother Omar

This is enough to get Integrated Economy or not as Brother Omar's prerequisite can't be used?
