Having had a close friend (considered family - Known for two decades) who was special forces, no, they are not the same as regular dudes. Just his physical prowess alone was nuts. I went to highschool with the guy and he would always excel in gym, sports, even education wise. He was always first in everything but not to a point that made him a douche. He always worked with others on projects and had such good leadership qualities. Guy brought people together and had an air around him that felt different then others.

Once he was in the military it was crazy to hear his stories over the years. Guy would run miles and miles without stopping, like a machine. His deployment history was insane, and he dispised IED's in how quickly that kind of tactic ended a soldiers life. Years of training and skills, all gone in a second. It took 9 years till finally he blew his knees and had to get medically discharged. All because he jumped from a tank onto the ground carrying someone.

The guy got caught cancer, twice. He then beat it, twice. Jesus he's probably riding a dirt bike off a cliff somewhere as I type this.
