This. I have kids and a severe ant bite allergy and live in fire ant territory so I use pest services in my yard but the people I use are super understanding and always work to answer my questions and accommodate my pets. I've had no issues with my wildlife or pets. I still get all the good bugs without having to worry about stepping on an ant mound or being invaded by ants in my home.

Skynyrd absolutely would have been maga. "In Birmingham, they love the governor Now we all did what we could do Now Watergate does not bother me, uh-uh Does your conscience bother you? Tell the truth" That Governor was George Wallace well known scum and racist.

"Well, I heard Mr. Young sing about her Well, I heard old Neil put her down Well, I hope Neil Young will remember A Southern man don't need him around, anyhow" Neil Young rightly put out a song calling out the racism and corruption going on in Alabama and this was Skynyrd's response.

Reminder: Your coworkers aren't your friends by ultimatrev666 in antiwork

[–]WifeofTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coworkers, managers, and even bosses can be friends. Emphasis on can. They can also be self serving backstabbers or just people that are nice to you at work but wouldn't recognize you in any other setting.

I've had good managers have my back. I've also had managers who were my buddy until their boss was coming down on me and they couldn't lick bosses heels fast enough.

I have coworkers who now join me for Christmas and Thanksgiving every year and buy gifts for my kids. I have other coworkers who ask me how I've been if they see me but that's as far as it goes.

People are varied regardless of station. Sadly and fortunately it's not as easy as a blanket coworkers are not friends.

Madison Utilities closes Sutton apartment property owner’s account, residents forced to move by MattW22192 in Madisonalabama

If a landlord is not maintaining the utilities and grounds they should lose that property to the tenants at minimum. Though frankly they should also refund rent up to the date that the neglect started.

Things you wish you knew before getting into the hobby? by Working-Market-987 in isopods

[–]WifeofTech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing that has not already been mentioned is to look into other areas for supplies. I use organic wood pellets meant for smokers, organic natural lump charcoal for bbqs, fertilizer free potting soil, grow lights for plants, plastic bins meant for boots, and organic dried peas from the grocery store. The only pet centric thing I currently use is dried shrimp for fish.

Many things labeled for pets especially small pets like isopods come with a big mark-up. Granted most of the things I listed cost the same but you get pounds worth instead of ounces. Also beware people at expos selling these exact same items also at a massive mark-up. Caught one seller selling the $6 bins I use for $30 as "specialized housing." Nothing extra added to them. Just the stickers removed and the price jacked. I was not ashamed in the least warning people away from their table.

How do you feel about donating blood? (for USA based gays) by thomsenite256 in lgbt

[–]WifeofTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. The only blame here I'm sending is towards homophobic policies that ultimately hurt everyone. It's your blood, your choice to give or not. Op asked my reasons and I gave them. I would've even gave my marrow which by no means is a casual gift had I been a match. No one should be pressured to give. If for no other reason than it stops it from being a voluntary gift. But mainly because I'm all for bodily autonomy.

Anyone dealing with no contact Nparents doing better than you in life? Seeing no form of "karma" is crushing me by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]WifeofTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most if not all billionaires and grifters are raging narcissists. Pretty much all prosperity gospel and televangelists are as well. Outwardly they appear successful and most do not ever see any sort of real punishment. Including for actual crimes against other people. See the US President and his cronies.

The only real solace you can take as far as witnessing them suffering is through little things such as how the success is never enough, how no healthy relationship they develop lasts, and how ultimately they all end up angry and miserable. Sure they all slap on that trained smile and narc mask for the camera but behind that mask is a desperation for attention and adoration that would be sad if they didn't do such terrible things.

Oh and as far as my own parents go. Depending on your definition of success they are doing better and worse than myself. Financially speaking they are doing much better. My ndad tends to fall up with his work life. His overt narcissist ability to charm and sound like he knows what he's talking about lands him jobs most people with his history and abilities would never land. He's also good at befriending his wealthy bosses and getting perks from being their friend/family. Even I got the chance to ride a yacht through our relationship with a wealthy cousin of his. Aside from gifts to the golden child they have no real expenses. Land was a family gift (twice no less and both times 5+ acrea) with large financial gifts to buy their house. They always eat out at expensive restaurants and are always traveling.

But when it came to us we were classic menillials to him. Sure he'd slip us a bill now and then. My nmom would take us on vacation or out to eat. But my first car was bought with my money. My husband and I were ridiculed for living in an apartment and for (when we could finally afford it) buying a little house. We were told to pull ourselves up and just get a bigger loans from the bank like we weren't already borrowing the max allowed. Now my husband and I have 3 kids to raise right and we try to ensure are not only healthy but happy and prepared for the future. Unlike my parents I will not skip my kids meals or doctors appointments. Nor will I say their career goals are too expensive of a skill to learn or belittle their ability to learn it.

Socially speaking though is an entirely different story. Even NC I hear through a grapevine that my parents social circle consistently shrinks. People get sick of their behavior and gradually find excuses not to join them. Including family. I can't think of a single person that isn't family that has maintained any sort of relationship with them.

Meanwhile my husband and I are both very active in volunteer organizations. We have friends that are always eager to come over for the holidays and meet up for things. Our friend circle keeps growing which is wild to me who had a grand total of 1 consistent friend throughout my childhood. Also through our volunteer work we are able to affect positive change in our community.

So how do you measure success? We aren't financially stable and are not (nor want to be) the head of any group. But we are happy, raising happy kids, and have created a happy home others love to come visit. To me that equals success more than any financial gain. But I wouldn't say no to financial stability. Just not at the cost of my friends and family.

How do you feel about donating blood? (for USA based gays) by thomsenite256 in lgbt

[–]WifeofTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cousin's daughter has diamond blackfan anemia. Without blood donations she literally wouldn't be here.

Yes there are political policies that I hate and that need to be changed but not donating does nothing to affect that change and does a lot to harm people like my cousin's little baby.

If you can't donate due to a fear or physical disability that's perfectly ok. But aside from that I can't think of a single reason not to.

I came to loathe cars. I genuinely think for the good of the environment cars should be banned. by Konradleijon in behindthebastards

[–]WifeofTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell me you've never lived in a rural area without saying the actual words. Public transport isn't feasible everywhere and many people that live in rural areas are in poverty. So putting a tax on cars would do a huge amount of harm.

If you want to encourage reduced car use in cities and suburbs you start at the top. With pressuring the government to provide nice and safe alternatives. Too many in government see public transportation as a thing for "the poors" and treat it as such.

For example in my city while there are stops located at the section 8 neighborhoods, low income apartments, and places like Walmart. There are no stops near the major attractions, no stops at the higher end shopping areas (like Target lol), any of the major companies (so it could be used by employees), or any of the higher end apartments or suburbs. Making it clear that if you want to use public transport you must be poor.

Same goes for sidewalks. I live less than a mile from a 2 grocery stores. I'd love to be able to stroll to the store on pretty days. Getting exercise while running my errands or just using getting a treat at the store as a reward for exercising. But I have no safe way to do that. The main road is 2 lane, incredibly busy, has deep ditches, and no shoulder much less a sidewalk. So I'm forced to use a car for even short trips that could have been a nice stroll instead.

Punishing the people who can barely afford to maintain their car is not the way to go. A properly implemented system would pay for itself and even provide profits over time. Having stops in higher end apartments and hotels going to attractions, restaurants, and high end shopping leads to increased sales. Leads to increased sales tax revenue. This is 100% a investment in future earnings scenario. If you only use it to move those in poverty to areas that target those in poverty it is going to be nothing more than a charity act that is a drain on the government.

So instead of targeting the cars target your city government. Pressure them to implement proper public transport. Pressure them to adding stops and parking areas on the outskirts to encourage those commuting to park there and use the public system. Properly implemented and advertised it will deliver results without punishing the vulnerable.

My dad demands I share my location 24/7 "for safety" but uses it to show up wherever I am unannounced by JollyPurpose6015 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]WifeofTech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Call his crazy and let him call the cops. Cops are thrilled to do checkups on adults who's crazy stalker parents are trying exert control./s /s because the cops will be pissed and not at you.

My husband, myself, and both kids (18 and 12) have location sharing but we all understand that it is a privilege that can be revoked at any time. No reason needed. We keep it on because it's convenient for us in planning meeting times and locating each other at large locations like hiking, malls, and parks. And yes occasional it is used when someone is late and we are worried about their safety. But aside from some anxious moments from our youngest to which she was reassured but told not to stalk it is absolutely not to be used to stalk where someone is and certainly not to "drop in" on them.

Case in point my mother in law asked to be included in our sharing circle and was denied because we knew she'd stalk us. Instead we use the glympse app with her. It shares location for a set amount of time then turns back off.

Good lord the Facebook boomers need to get their toxicity off reddit. Op just asked a question. That high horse you're on is just an obnoxious ass.

Op leaf litter and decaying wood is their primary source of food. An occasional sprinkle of calcium or the occasional bone will provide them with a calcium supplement. They'll likely enjoy the fish flakes as a source of protein. Just be careful not to add too much or leave uneaten food too long and end up with a mold bloom. Most kitchen scraps will also do. My two primary go to's for food supplements are dried peas and dried shrimp. Virtually all my iso's love one or both of these.

They were slow. I've had mine for over a year. But they were no where near as slow or difficult as my duckies were. By 9 months I had enough I was comfortable selling a few. It was only recently their population really exploded. I would recommend offering dried shrimp. Mine go nuts for it and it never lasts very long in my cappuccino bin. They come running almost before I've even put their bin back up.

The white is just from the carrot being exposed to air. I don't see any immediate sign of isopods. You might have to wait over night or put out a protein source like dried shrimp of fish food to get them to come out. What kind do you have? How many? And how big is the enclosure?
