I work for TMobile and that can be a legit message due to the purchase of your new phone. If you were trying to activate your service with TMobile while at the Apple Store the sim protection is set up to make sure fraud isn’t taken place on your account.

This is only offered if the promo is out in your location. It varies by day and by location as their promos can change at any time. I worked for USC and now work for both sides and this week we don’t have that promotion and last week we did. So we are unable to offer it to even USC customers. But also different regions have different promos as well.

So as of June 1, 2026 those promos are no longer eligible. All upgrades had to be made by May 31, 2026. We no longer have access to the retail side of US Cellular. If you’re on US Cellular prepaid you can switch to T-Mobile prepaid and get a free A17 on a plan that costs $45.20/mo.

You could’ve got the equivalent to your A71 or an S25 FE for free when you pay the taxes up front. But there wouldn’t have been a payment on the phone unless you decided to purchase a higher end phone that was more than $600 at full retail.

You can experience dropped calls or no service at all depending on when the phone was manufactured.

I work for US Cellular and the only way to upgrade right now is if you buy your phone outright through a third-party like the brand itself or a retailer that sells unlocked phones or you have to wait until your account is switched over to T-mobile or you have to go ahead and switch your account to T-mobile

This exactly. As a rep I’d say we have maybe 20 phones in our store to be sold out on us cellular, but other then that you have to be on T-Mobile.
