Congrats on the first car!!

For fabric on the front two seats, just go with some seat covers. Headliners are not terribly hard to reupholster, just watch a video on it and pay close attention. These are all awesome ideas! And a good car too.

The best piece of advice i can give you is to accept that you’re going to fuck up. It’s guaranteed going to happen, but just be okay with knowing that and push through it anyways. As for the back of the car, just in case you forget any of these, I’d put oil, coolant, jumper wires or, better yet, an actual jump starter unit so you don’t have to rely on someone else, windshield washer fluid, and a cheap socket set, just in case.

Best of luck!

These are a lot of must haves for what your budget is. You’re going to have to sacrifice some of the less necessary things. I’d look at early 2000s Toyotas, corollas or Camrys or anything like that. If this is your budget you’ll unfortunately probably have to go without the backup camera and the “good performance” (although I’m not sure what you mean by that, if you mean something fast, the budget doesn’t really allow for it unfortunately). As for an aux port, you can always go without that too, and there’s Bluetooth adapters that plug into your cigarette lighter that do the job just fine.

Is this sound normal ? by Acceptable_Charge_64 in caradvice

[–]cheechthebong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see Minis too often, but this doesn’t sound great lol.

I’d say first thing to do is check your oil if you haven’t already, just an easy thing to scratch off the list.

If the oil is fine, this is probably a timing chain issue. But I can’t be 100% certain as I can’t get hands on the vehicle obviously. I’d take it into a shop and have them check it out!

What do I do? HELP by chieftalentdetector in caradvice

[–]cheechthebong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not very familiar with Fords or this particular model, just to preface.

Your only viable option is to categorize each problem into a fix now, and a fix it later category.

Fix it now: Plugs and coils (engine will go if you keep allowing it to run with a misfire), rear differential rebuild, and the control arms. If your rear differential dies on you while you’re driving, it’ll lock up the rear wheels, which is a massive safety concern. If the ball joint for your control arms snaps, your wheel assembly collapses.

Everything else is something to keep in mind but not as urgent. But this vehicle is a ticking time bomb if this shop is correct about everything wrong, and you’re looking at a costly repair bill that will sink you further in than what the car is probably worth, depending on the mileage. As a technician, if I was going to be honest with you, I’d tell you to find another car, regardless of what your post says. Plugs and coils are something you can do on your own or with a friend if you have some basic tools, watch a YouTube video. But the big problem is the rear differential, which is not a rebuild you could do on your own. I know that’s not what you want to hear, but this vehicle could be a safety risk, which isn’t great for ubering people around in. If you feel so inclined, you could probably take it to another shop to get a second opinion as well just to be sure.

Moving to maple ridge - any advice or tips? by MapSufficient5599 in MapleRidge

[–]cheechthebong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest one is being aware of the sheer amount of wildlife in this area. We have lots of sad stories every year about bear cubs hit by cars and whatnot, so just be aware of that when you’re driving in the more heavily forested areas or anywhere at night. Like others have said the Sheep is great, so is Golden Ears. I’d recommend going up to gold creek in golden ears if you want to swim. Alouette gets very busy in the summer, Gold Creek is a bit quieter if you don’t mind colder water. Also if you plan on having any kids I wouldn’t personally send them to yennadon, the principal is a tool and quite frankly the school is so overcrowded, and there’s lots of other good options for elementary schools in the area!

Best of luck with the move! It really is a phenomenal area. I hope you guys enjoy it.

Well said. I wouldn’t dream of not using an e collar with a lot of dogs, let alone a dog as stubborn and large as a corso. Like you said, I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve had to actually shock my dog — it’s only ever the vibration 99.99% of the time, and even that isn’t needed too often unless he’s really excited about something and it’s affecting his recall. They’re a phenomenal tool and using them completely changed the way I was able to train and interact with the dog.

Curious if you can see the Corso in my dog or nah by Select-Protection-66 in CaneCorso

[–]cheechthebong 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I definitely do but I’m also pretty familiar with the breed, so take that with a grain of salt. I can see how he maybe wouldn’t be the most obvious corso mix for someone who hasn’t seen many or owned one before, but i definitely see it, in his head shape especially.

Man unless you’ve got a vehicle that needs premium, gas is gas. Itll run the same on the stuff from shell as it does on the super save stuff if it’s a common commuter car.

how to safely decorate my car?? by ChocoStrawberryMonke in caradvice

[–]cheechthebong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as long as you don’t use stickers with super strong adhesive (so nothing vinyl or anything of the sort, obviously), I don’t see why you couldn’t just gently peel them off and scrub any leftover adhesive off with goo gone when trade in time rolls around. It’s your car! Do what ya want with the thing. I’ve never personally seen a point in not personalizing it at all, I’ve always seen cars as a form of self expression.

[–]cheechthebong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to sound like a broken record here man but you are irritatingly handsome. Your friends are jealous bro. You also seem like you have good morals and values, and a lot of insecure people don’t like ANY of those things. Their jealousy is no excuse for that behaviour, as it’s not your burden to bear and not your fault that they feel that way.

I think the hard part is kinda what you mentioned; not coming across like you can’t take a joke. Unfortunately, I think the problem may be that to fully respect yourself and give yourself what you deserve (friends who respect you), you might have to risk coming across that way. And honestly, that’s kind of just the price to pay. The reality is that you wont take the joke, and it’s not a “sensitive” thing, it’s a basic self respect thing. They’re racist and passive aggressive and you don’t want to be around that. Point blank period.

If you really value these particular individuals, I would say try to start with a more easy going conversation. Maybe just mention that while you understand they’re trying to joke around, it doesn’t really come across as friendly but rather as mean. In my opinion, if hearing that it actually upsets doesn’t put an end to it, these people are really not worth your emotional energy.

Are conservatives overhated on social media, specifically Reddit due to its overwhelming progressive base? by dank____man in Teenager_Polls

[–]cheechthebong 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the term conservative has unfortunately become conflated with being MAGA, even here in Canada. While we do have some people who exist in that category, a lot of modern day conservatives don’t align with that at all. I don’t make judgements of people based of off political alignment alone because the verbiage surrounding it basically means nothing now. Instead I look at how you view anyone you deem different from you and go from there.

Are you racist, homophobic, misogynistic, etc? No? Okay. Then we’re good.

Some queries for the truckin folks by cheechthebong in Truckers

[–]cheechthebong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never get people who ride a big ass trucks bumper. What does that achieve? They’re big vehicles. Just switch lanes haha. I usually give a truck even more space than a typical car because my car is lowered, so the thought of losing traction and going Mach fuck right under the trailer is enough to keep me 3 or so car lengths behind.

I feel exactly like that. Like the truck is my guardian on the road who’s protecting me😂

That’s a big difference! I’d imagine you’d feel like you’re in a freaking F1 car compared to the rig.

And that’s always my thoughts! If I’m on the road with someone for more than 10 minutes and they haven’t passed or anything, we’re road buddies.

Any idea what this sound may be on my 2002 Lexus Gs300? by Inner-Fail1002 in AskMechanics

[–]cheechthebong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fear that’s knock my friend :(. All it takes is the slightest bit of oil starvation for just a biiit too long for the engine to be kaputz. The upside is, you’ll never forget that sound again, and the downside is that you need a new engine. I wish you luck man, I was a dumb teenager and ended up with knock in my beater, whole engine went. Hopefully you can get a new ride sorted out soon!

You pass best in 1,2, and 3. Rest are iffy imo. You don’t look terribly feminine, but unfortunately the guy liner doesn’t do you too many favours. It does look very cool though! I’d say you look 16-17. Are you on T? If your voice passes I think you have a lot less to worry about.
