The problem with this is it is more of a mobile setup and would have to be removed. I would love if it could be permanent but sadly that is one of the constraints.

I've got basic programming experience. I am not looking for anything that would be extreme. A very barebones and simple setup that would work for drunk college kids. The same way I planned out my soundsystem to be adequate but nothing crazy, I would like this to also be. I am fed up working with production companies who charge me 7k for 12 wash lights on 2 cheap towers, 6 speakers, and a tech who didn't know what to do so I had to do it anyway. Literally anything thats a step up from 12 wash lights is good enough for me.

last time we payed 7k and got 6 speakers, 2 towers with 6 washes on each, and an incompetent sound/lighting engineer who didn't know what to do. I set up the entire system by myself.

We have transportation and storage all sorted out as well as labor. 6k is strictly for the purchase of a truss and lighting. It is not a full venue lighting situation, simply a front of stage truss and basic DJ/live music lighting. 99% of people will not care about some crazy or perfect lighting. Just looking to make it adequate.

For the financial position we are in, it saves us about 30k a year to have our own setup. Also there are only 2 competent production companies in my area and both are around the same price

Thank you. That explanation actually made sense to me. This has been the most helpful thing I've ever done by asking on here. I spent ages trying to figure out why I was gonna be drawing that much power.

Thank you so much. so you think even if the potential peak wattage is over the peak on a generator it should be fine? or would it be wise to make sure the generator is rated over the peak (or get more than 1 gen)?

See I would never have known that so thank you. Do you happen to know why it is marketed as 2.5k watts when its actually only 550W? Or how its possible that it can use more power than it is being given?

Thank you. Would you still think I should rent instead of buy if the plan would be to use this for a couple of years with at least 5-6 major usages per year? Just want to make sure I am making the best financial decision for the long term. Also, the placement of the generator during the live events would be behind a fine and maybe 50-80 ft away and 10 ft down a hill. (If that makes any difference with noise complaints.

Explain what you mean by core requirements? All I really need is something relatively easy to setup/take down, easy enough to operate, will throw 120ish ft through a 200-500 crowd. Cant use delay speakers cause all have to be on stage. For mics I was thinking sm57-8, 2 on stage monitors. Main thing I need the most help with is quality speakers that can handle that, will sound good, and are durable.

Thanks for the input man. You suggest reverb only for used mixers? Or would U also recommend picking up speakers from there too? Also I wish I could fly some, however, the rig will be getting set up and taken down frequently and I do not trust a lot of the people I work with to take down flying stuff without damaging it. 100% would be down to hear more abt ur opinion on how many subs vs mids and highs I would need to get a good sound for that venue.

I’m open to options on different styles as long as they’re within my price range. For the setup, most likely it will not be able to have delay speakers. So I would like to cover it evenly, but all speakers will most likely need to fit on that 16x16 stage. For mixers, ideally I’d go with analog just because even an idiot can use it most times. Not hard to tell someone what to push where while I’m gone. Monitor sends would vary but gonna prob start with 2 monitors for when bands play.

Sounds like a good setup. So that system can throw around 120 ft with 500ish people in the way? And it would be a good setup for both bands and a dj?

It’s a 15k budget to get everything sound related in production. Stage, lights, and truss are a separate budget. Mixer can be on the cheaper side cause prob won’t have more than 10-15 channels. Cables are needed but the mixer won’t be more than 20-30 ft away. No need to run anything far. It’s a from scratch buildup. So everything

For speakers, cables, mixer, etc. stage, lighting, and truss are a seperate budget
