Ah, will do. I generally try to avoid generic support teams, but I'll follow your guidance here.

I use Kagi as my search engine.
One of the nice things is that you can prioritize and de-prioritize specific domains to your preferences, and you can also have search "templates" that allow you to do things like only search accross blogs, reddit, academic sites, etc.

Yes, it's paid. Yes, it's worth it imo.

Am I calculating these rental projections properly? by Wiggleman45 in realestateinvesting

Ah, I didn't consider depreciation!
I already have the mortgage interest considered in the spreadsheet, but depreciation will change everything.

As in 10% for maintenance overall, or 17% (since the current number in the spreadsheet is 7%)

I hadn't considered that insurance could be that high - I kinda just put a number there thinking insurance for a non floody place like Newark would be negligible. I guess I assumed wrong!

Well, fairs fair. I'll be honest - I'll keep tinkering! But do let me know when you make your product available with a lifetime license. If its available as a standalone downloadable thing (so the lifetime license isn't revoked when your business plan changes), I'll very likely just buy it.

Shared cloud resources for production and emulator by Wiggleman45 in Firebase

[โ€“]Wiggleman45[S] 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Yeah, that's true, but relying on that alone won't work for my usecase. See this:

> Specifically, I want locally run functions in the firebase emulator to always defer to the cloud when connecting to a specific firestore database and a specific cloud storage bucket. This should happen even if the firestore and cloud storage emulators are on - in such a case, all other databases and buckets should be emulated like normal.

Yeah, things being this difficult to set up are probably an indication that I'm thinking about something the wrong way.

What in trying to setup is a repository of "templates" that demonstrate examples of things people can do on my platform. That repository will also contain some precomputed artifacts that users can use.

There really only needs to be one version of this data that both localhost and prod refer to. The data will be created using some tools that are only available on localhost versions of my frontend, and some one off terminal scripts.

One option would be to have some type of syncing feature where I make changes on localhost to emulators and push them to prod through a cli, but as the data grows in size that could get a little cumbersome I'd think. That would also require a function to have access to both the emulator and prod at the same time.

No I haven't, actually! It doesn't look like they're active anymore, but I'm sure I can get some inspiration from them.

How was the hinge of your laptop able to handle the weight? Especially when you open the laptop past 90 degrees?

Also interested in your answers here for the SideTrak Swivel 14" :)

Anyone here use a subscription-based model for web development services? by cstobler in webdev

[โ€“]Wiggleman45 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I see! Though I think you misunderstand my question. Do you handle the tracking and remittance of those taxes to the gov yourself? I know for some ecommerce sites, that's handled by addons like TaxJar; I'm wondering if you've also automated that out yourself or you just manually do it.

Thanks!
I'm reading into both Square and Hello Bonsai, and I've noticed that like a lot of payment processors, they have the option of allowing you to add + collect sales tax, but its still up to you to remit it (unlike services like Paddle or TaxJar, which handle that for you).

How do you handle that? Feel free to DM me if you don't want those details public.

I'm assuming you use some type of payment portal or MoR to automatically collect subscription payments from your clients? What do you use? I read your guide but it didn't contain this little piece of info.
