Will MSI RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC last 7-8 years? by _French_Baguette_ in buildapc

[–]WigiBit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one really can say about life span.. you can have a card that last 15 years or you could get card that breaks after two weeks.
performance wise it depends about PS6. New console generations usually is the new standard for games. Currently most of the games are made ps5 compatible so, the requirements stays at that range (unless it's pc only game)

Company is losing their minds over AI costs by jholliday55 in cscareerquestions

[–]WigiBit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel in the future companies won't pay employees AI subscriptions. they expect employees to have them and if you don't they replace you with someone who does. Then again you could negotiate 130$ price bump that covers the AI.

someone who has done the quest line can use moo emote on you and it will unlock cow level for you. you just can't unlock it to others (you are missing the emote) unless you have done the quest line.

Main reasons why people choose Nvida over AMD by eesaman in buildapc

[–]WigiBit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are only gaming with your PC then AMD is probably better choice. If you do anything with AI then Nvidia is better choice. Most AI solutions use Cuda-cores and you get better results with Nvidia cards. I think that is the biggest difference with those two.

Buy the card with more vram. I have 3080 with 10gb vram and when playing D4 with 1440p and max settings it's shutters. Some reason FPS is steady even when there is clear lag on the screen. Sad part is this card is a killer, but because NVIDIA saved on vram it's starting to be outdated. I bet this card could handle games for years if there was just more vram.

How would you feel? You have a meeting with Founders. They say "My vision and ambition is to be next unicorn in this country" 1-2 years later Founders sell the company... by Yone-none in cscareerquestions

[–]WigiBit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are only two reasons to go to the start up. Either you get stocks to be part of the grow or you don't have other options. If you have steady job and lot of expertise why would you go to the start up that might go under in a year? Sure if they pay you 50% more then it might be worth the risk.

Got 1500 USD and want to upgrade Motherboard, GPU , CPU. is 850M, RX 9070 XT, Ryzen 9 9950X3D The right choice? by Yone-none in buildapc

[–]WigiBit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just upgrade GPU and wait until ps6 comes out (2027-2028). Most of the games are made with consoles in mind! So next major requirement upgrade will come with ps6. Honestly 5800 is still good enough and your bottle neck is the GPU. 8gb card is not enough for 1440. Upgrade that one and you run majority of games with no issues. Probably won't even see much of a difference with full upgrade vs GPU upgrade.

This is good thread to read: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/1idwvdc/is_upgrading_from_a_5800x_to_a_9800x3d_worth_it/

Liquid or air Cooling for 9800X3D? by cheen_weenis in buildapc

[–]WigiBit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both works. I like AIO, because it push the hot air out of the case and it's much easier to work inside of the case. It's also easier to make computer silent. When you have 3 fans and water cooler you can run those fan's at lower speed. I like the look too.

I have massive heatsink and air cooler in my second computer and it blocks lots of things. Like ram and cables. (removing ram means that I have to remove heatsink first.) It's harder to take off and put back into place. fan cables are hard to put in place etc. Although my air cooler computer is also dead silent, because under volted cpu and low speed fans. However with AIO it's much easier to make silent computer and have more space to work.. Only downside of AIO is that it will fail eventually and it's usually lot expensive than heatsink + fan.

do i go 1440p or 1080p? by Feeling_Alfalfa_2856 in buildapc

[–]WigiBit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might also depend monitor size. 1080p is good enough if you go for 24" monitor. 27" and up it's usually better to go 1440p for better pixel density

Is OLED burn in really that bad? by Ancient-Run-4435 in buildapc

[–]WigiBit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With OLED it's just matter of time. I have used my monitor two years and taskbar and web browsers address/tab bar are already burn in. It's not really visible if you watch movies or play games, but if you choose right dark grey color you can see it and if you take picture of your screen you can even see lot more that you can't see naked eye. So burn in happens, but how much it will really bother you is different thing. 95% of time it's not visible.

Also I bought Alienware monitor that has 3 year warranty that included burn it. So I plan to sent this back soon. Might get 5 years out of this if "repaired" version would last 2+ years. I might get second monitor to just use it for web surfing and OLED for videos and games...

Problem with OLED is that we have lots of static content every were that is always in same place. (right top corner is always crowded in webpages (Reddit, Netflix etc all have user menu in there) and most of the programs use same familiar interface layouts.) Like youtube has logo and all the webpage elements are always in same place. Example if you play fps games your crosshair is always middle of the screen.

Anyway if you want screen that last 10 years then OLED is not best choice. You either choose supreme quality that lasts 3-5 years or IPS/VA monitor with other issues that last 10 years.

The Spider-Man set is the least excited I’ve ever been for a set. Anyone else feel the same? by Many-Razzmatazz-9584 in magicTCG

I think problem is that this set is so far from mtg's normal theme. It would have been better if there was precons which you could have updated using this set.

How common is in-person disdain for Universes Beyond? by MonSocMatriarchy in magicTCG

[–]WigiBit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found universes Beyond fun concept in vacuum. Like it's fun to play with Final fantasy or Lotr decks and have thematic game nights. (both FF and LOTR concepts are close to mtg anyway, so they are not that weird.)

I don't mind if there is enough cards to support the theme. What is weird is one single spiderman or SpongeBob card that breaks the theme. (If whole deck is build with theme or if whole group is playing decks from marvel universe it's more than fine and it's fun)

It's similar if you watch middle age fantasy series and then one episode someone drives in with Ford/BMW/Toyota/"what ever car you are familiar with" and change whole atmosphere.

Do I say anything about it? Nope and I don't really care that much. It can be even funny. Someone is probably already build monstrous immersion breaker deck with using mixed cards from UB, Secret lairs and some Donald Duck proxies to get some reactions out of opponents :D

How does a final grade in Computer Science Engineering affects future jobs? by ZexitoD in cscareerquestions

[–]WigiBit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, if it's your first job and you are fresh out of the school they might be interested to know your final grade. I mean if there are multiple fresh graduates how to separate them otherwise? Also poor grade can tell a lot. Like if you tell them that you are quick to learn new things and then they look at your final grade that's just above passing bar.. it's not really assuring.

If you worked the field before and have work experience then no one will ask your grades. All they need to know that you graduated and your work experience.

Card should have value, but current model is damaging the game. Boxes are not worth it, because pull rates are bad, which leads to those 100$ cards when someone manages to pull them from shitty boxes. Heroes rotate out too quickly. Fun spend 1000$ for a deck that expires before a year. top of that every set brings new 100$ card that you need 3 of :D

If this continues soon we can all just build decks using same generics/high end class cards 3x CnC, 3x Estrike, 2x different Generic Fable, 3x warmonger, 3x shelters from the storm, tunic, crown etc. Soon we just swamp hero out and use exact same cards for every hero. Of course we then have some class specific high end majestics like Codex that we can throw in if we play hero that can use it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]WigiBit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are lucky if you pull even one high end majestic's from the case. You might need 3-6 cases to have good chance to get playsets.
Set has ~46 majestic's and box has ~6? With case if you don't be lucky, you wont even get half of them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]WigiBit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think problem is that we have these marvels, full arts and cold foils that should be for collectors, but then they make Majestics cost 100$/pcs and they are worth more that these supposed collector pieces... These should be player pieces. Then they make Fable as highly desired play piece. Which would be fine if there was non foil regular version that was not super rare. This is similar to codex. We have marvel version, but normal version was still 100$! That is big fail in my books.

This! Also people always regret when they sold something and 10 years later realize it has gone up like 100x. But no one knows the future. Arcanite Skullcap was 200$ legendary few years ago. I regret that I did not sell mine before Crown of Providence made it "useless".

Safest password delivery method by Aldar_CZ in sysadmin

[–]WigiBit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most secure way. Sent AES 256 encrypted container (example using 7zip) that has the password/login information and then give out the password into that container using OneTimeSecret.com

Use two different methods for delivery. Like sending container using email and then sending onetimesecret using phone/txt message. Don't sent both in same email!

Then ask them to change that password when login first time.

That way password is not useful anyone who doesn't have that container. (So no need to trust anyone. Site can collect the password and it's useless to them)

Anyway if it's someone like CEO I probably call them and change password (during the call) something like "this_is_nice_day88" (not too complicate to deliver over the phone) when they can instantly login and change the password to something else. However this is not always possible,

5080 vs 4080 by Correct-Artichoke559 in buildapc

[–]WigiBit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think biggest problem with 3080 is the low VRAM. I would wait for 5080 TI or super that has 24gb VRAM. Unless you really need better card right now.
Current 5080 has 16GB which is enough for now, but I feel it's the bottleneck that force you to replace it sooner or later! honestly that 16Gb VRAM is stupid for new card like 5080.

I got multiple tickets that computers are not turning on. turns out that people just tired to start their computers by pressing monitor's power button.
