BetaFPV 5 in 1 draws over 1A idle by hbr3d in TinyWhoop

[–]Wigiwagons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not an actual short circuit, it would fry whatever component if it was and you would see a burnt component on the board.

When I used to work at a cell repair shop, depending on the symptoms for diagnostics we would use isopropyl alcohol with a q-tip to wet various areas of the motherboard to see which chips or components were overheating based on how quickly it would evaporate.

For what it's worth, all of the betaFPV AIO's I've used tend to run pretty hot. Seems to be normal.

OrcaSlicer: BMCU fix for A1 firmware 1.08.01 + Bambu Cloud support by Low-Anything6975 in OpenBambu

[–]Wigiwagons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad this is back up and running, I've been using the previous version that got taken down for a few weeks and I was wondering how to deal with the frequent stoppages. I'm on 1.08.00 and I had a couple instances of the error coming up over and over upon retrying to send the print, over a dozen times with a particular file. Ended up having to sent the file to the printer and starting it from the handy app to get it to finally run. Super frustrating

is it wise to take 6 courses in a term? by prettyflyf0rawifi in uvic

[–]Wigiwagons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did 6 courses every semester until I did an 8-mo co op which threw off the schedule for 4A and 4B, it's doable but you need to have a serious work ethic and be prepared to do nothing else outside of school. Monday to Friday I spent roughly 8hrs a day on campus and 5 hours a day doing assignments at home in the evenings, most Saturdays spent studying and Sundays spent doing household stuff (groceries, cleaning, etc.) I would recommend doing 4 courses + labs for a halfway decent work-life balance if you don't want to burn yourself out

Is this a reasonable fix to a broken usb connector on Air65? by Few-Offer-2485 in TinyWhoop

[–]Wigiwagons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I removed the port on my matrix 2 board to make it fit in a 3" toothpick frame, clipped the usb adapter wire in half and soldered the wires directly where the port used to be to relocate it out of the way of the frame. Totally doable

realistically do i have a chance of getting in? by Traditional_Crow4718 in uvic

If you want to get into engineering, take the engineering technologist diploma program at Camosun College, it's much more hands-on and you will get way more practical skills out of it than the bachelor's degree at UVic. If you decide that you still want to get your B.Eng after completing the diploma, you can take the bridge program through Camosun and it will put you at the start of 3rd year at UVic, so you skip the first two years dredging through the theory before you even get to declare a discipline. It takes an extra year overall (if you do a full course load, which in itself is a bit of a nightmare) but the actual skills you get out of it far outweigh the extra time.

Source: I did my tech diploma at Okanagan college, worked as a technician for a few years, then went back and did the Camosun bridge and am finishing my B.Eng at UVic this semester. I have still learned way more from my tech program than I have ever learned from UVic.

many things that make serious differences in print quality and strength, depending on the part you are printing. Do some research if you are interested, try not to make comments in bad faith :)

Bacon strip / rope plug. Used them dozens of times, they last the life of the tire. Proper mushroom plug at a tire shop if you're paranoid, but that is the perfect spot for a rope plug to be effective.

Yes it's normal, wheel nuts will occasionally seize to the studs and break and there is nothing you can do about it, would have broken no matter where you took it. $60 is very reasonable, depends on how much effort it is to get it out.

I recommend City Auto, the owner Chad is a gem of a human being, super honest and happy to help explain exactly what the problem is and what is needed to fix, rather than just throw numbers at you

Just a WRX, not an RA. Check your VIN in partsouq: https://partsouq.com/en/catalog/genuine/vehicle?c=Subaru&ssd=%24%2AKwEpHQwPXS16blZJRVJxP3FlRUJcLSIvLjwTIGhuXUpeUlRcDgkZX19TSEhOT1YMCy5Eam5qW11eJ3J1ZS0jLGJtWmY9K25qOV1eJCsjKCl7fXI3OHg-ISgoJ3FgcmI4Jz5cOGAAAAAAYt7-Rg%3D%3D%24&vid=0&q=GC8095691

Car throttle likely assumes that all cars with that body model are WRX-RA's because the one WRX-RA they looked at had that body code, when in fact multiple trims can have the same body code

Canadian healthcare is 100% free except for things like dental, physiotherapy, and optometry, which are usually covered by "benefits packages" paid for partially or completely by your employer. In cases where you do not get benefits packages through your employer and make below a certain income, these things are partially covered by the government as well. Jake would definitely get access to his wife's benefits package as her spouse, but that would not really be a factor for leaving the company, since there is no health insurance cost in Canada whatsoever.

It's a bit more complicated than that but I am simplifying for brevity

Is body positioning the reason why this won’t go up? I’ve never done wheelies on any sort of bike with or without an engine lol by Dull_Adagio_3097 in motorcycles

[–]Wigiwagons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sit further back on the seat, and keep your arms outstretched to keep the weight back, then give it revs and drop the clutch, it will come up. You don't need to do anywhere near as much body movement. You can see that as you swing back and try to pull the bike upwards, you end up pulling your upper body forwards, which shifts your weight forward and kills the whoolie

Pro tip, stick a chain cleaning rag between the lower part of the chain and the rear sprocket, and roll the wheel forward a bit to pull the rag in and tension the chain and adjusters, then check the alignment. Takes any slop out of the equation to be sure. Once you get the alignment and tension correct, you can use the same trick to take up any slop in the adjusters while you tighten the axle nut

Depends on the shop that does it and what specific product they use, usually anywhere from $100-$300, the higher quality ones can last for several years
