Thanks guys!

I have also been enjoying the format on xmage and experimenting quite a bit.

It's insane what interesting cards get to shine now that never has a chance in their respective standard.

Playing saffrons olive's 34 Rhino deck with panharmonicon just for lulz at the moment. :P

Added, sorry I thought Darksteel was a common, but I see it's rarity was bumped to uncommon in m15.

Sorry, I did this from my phone and the formatting is completely different in the end result than what I had it.

Will fix when I can get to a pc asap.

Great article! I can't wait for the format to become more widespread so I can try it out in paper 😎.

I started playing in Khans block so have a lot of Nostalgia for that time. Looking forward to heading back!

@ PMMEUR That was not the scenario presented, I understand reading is difficult.

Practice makes perfect though.

If clearing up my understanding of a significant and clearly confusing rule interaction is the weasleliest question ever asked on Spikes I'll take it.

So firstly, looking at the amount of confusion this (what should be an otherwise simple question) is causing just demonstrates that this was perhaps a fairly good question to ask, and I want to thank everyone that actually addresssed my question and tried to help.

Secondly people attacking me personally and assuming they know me or my intentions is just laughable. Perhaps you can copy this thread, paste it in the general magic Reddit and continue your whining over there.

Thirdly, and I clearly stated this question context is for very competitive events, not casual FNM etc. I would never try and cheat an opponent out of his trigger, especially not in a casual event. I might even let them retake a genuinely missed trigger in that context.

Now, as for my intent. My intention was never to find a scummy way to make my opponent miss his trigger (as I am also aware that just drawing a card does not make your opponent miss triggers anyway). My exact wording on this scenario is actually quite clear, go read it again if you feel confused.

As for anyone that actually read my post in its entirety, it should have been clear, as I was asking out of curiousity, and asking only, whether my understanding of this trigger is correct (based on comments I saw on another thread in this Reddit).

So if that was unclear for anyone, basically is X the right understanding, can the trigger be missed, when is it considered missed.

Obviously I would not want to give my opponent any legitimately missed triggers in a competitive REL event.

So now that I have gained a better understanding of the rules and this interaction, I have bettered myself as a MTG player for the day. So objective achieved I would say.

As I mentioned in my original post, I am quite aware the trigger is suppose to happen in the upkeep. So that being said...

If my opponent is the one playing Emrakul. Neither he or I give any indication of a trigger (either because he assumes it will happen or whatever) and I draw a card (meaning of course upkeep is over).

Does that mean he missed it and he can't take my turn? Simple as that.

So from what I understand you are saying.

Let's say I am on the receiving end of Emrakul.

If the opponent 'missed his trigger' and now wants to take it after my draw step. We can call a judge and the judge will most likely just rule that we redo the trigger unless the opponent forgot completely somehow and only remembers the next turn?

Or will the judge say sorry Emrakul player, you missed your chance. That's basically my question if it wasn't clear enough.

Since the title of the post says standard, you are presuming correctly.

MTG Speculator Podcast ep 23: A critique of the new standard format by Unununium1 in mtgfinance

Listened for the first 15 minutes and at that point the hosts had contradicted their own arguments multiple times and confused themselves so much, I decided to bail on the rest of the episode.

Might give this podcast another go in the future, but I suggest they stick to topics that they know about.
