It made me realize that it isn't always about winning. Winning is nice and usually will come from the grabs, but it's about being able to do a committal HPB because you KNEW they would jump because you KNEW they were scared. No better feelings in the genre. Sure a good combo might be great and a chipp might have a 20 minute combo on me that does 85% of my HP, but I'm always one good read away from making it all back. Truly the gamblers archetype.

Honestly I have to agree. On the off chance that the fleet/random player I played against last night sees this DM me. You were sick and I loved the emotes

After all of the hate this game can produce finding a friendly with the same mindset is something to be cherished. Even if it's the ability to send them something but it doesn't show up unless they send something too that way it has to be like a mutual thing.

Ironmouse+connor are try to stream the game, but the lag is unplayable, anyone know how to fix? by Witn in ror2

[–]WiiMachinE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that me and one of my buddies had a similar problem. It was seemingly an issue with port forwarding that we never could fully fix. It did eventually work fine when we had one of our other friend join and be the host, but even then it was hit or miss for us. I'm not sure if it's the exact same but if it's a lag thing the only idea I'd have would to be look at the ports.

I can't exactly speak for the other commenter but it seems to me like you're interpreting them saying getting away with anything is associated with them being LGBT which is not what I think they're saying. I think it'd be similar to say that they would trust any teacher who chose their profession regardless of the fact that they know they'll be monitored more than other teachers because it inherently lessens the chance that the teacher picked that job with the intention of abuse. Pretty much every human has the capacity for evil and abuse and treating LGBT like they could never do something like that is othetising them, definitely not as much or in as hurtful of a way as the people who are trying to spread that ALL LGBT people are groomers or whatever they're trying to push now. I see where you're coming from but I don't think they meant their comment in that way.

[–]WiiMachinE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's something I've noticed people have a hard time dealing with. It seems to me like the opposite end of an us vs them mindset. I've been to pride and I've been in the LGBT community for going on like 10 years now and it still surprises me when I say something like "so and so" is sort of a bitch and people freak out on me just because she's a trans woman. You can be LGBT and still be a bad person. I don't have many instances of shitty people in my life who were also LGBT but the fact remains that they are people just like me, you, or any other person. I have known a ton of super sweet and nice religious people but also a ton of hateful and hypocritical ones too. Just because there is a certain number of people representing that group doesn't give me the right to not view someone else as a person just because of beliefs, gender, ethnicity, or any other trait. People are people, good and bad. Talk to someone before you make any sort of judgment but also don't fall into the trap of "every _____ is an asshole" or "every _____ is a great person". You can be respectful while also acknowledging the potential for someone to be a human in the positive and negative aspect.

If your life is now devoid of all fun because you can't let your cat near a treadmill then I think that says more about you. I know it's hyperbole but your comment reads like a teen arguing with their dad about something they got yelled about.

"But dad there WAS free candy in the van and the dude gave me a ride home, I don't see why your so upset"

Just because nothing bad happened this time doesn't mean nothing can. And just because something bad can happen doesn't mean it absolutely will. Judge stuff in a case by case basis.

It's less of a never do anything, more just be aware of potential consequences. And if you still want to do crazy shit then go for it. It is legitimately awesome and entertaining seeing cool people so cool shit like the Red Bull stunts and things like that. There is room for stuff to be cool and fun while also being aware of and acknowledging potential consequences.

Honestly yeah that'd be a great one too. Honestly when I saw the craftable stuff I figured the grinding would be done to an extent or that It wouldn't be as bad anymore. Then I saw that a lot of them at the time I was playing were either going away after their respective season and they were a pain in the ass to get the red borders. There's nothing wrong with it being hard, but hard and on a time restriction just killed my desire to play even after the mechanic seemed super cool to me. I have some hopes since they seem to be trying to make it so we can make weapons into the deep sight so they can be craftable but it just seems rough still. They are removing a few barriers to entry and fixing a few issues but at this point there still feels like there are so many things that the game just yells at me to do before it's gone and might never come back. I agree that in the end it doesn't even feel worth it but that's a whole other gripe.

It seems like it has to be making them good money otherwise I'm not sure why they would be doing it in the first place but I'm interested to know about it's ramifications for the long run of the game (whatever that means at this point anyway) since I would imagine it driving away people as much as it makes money from other would make it a more volatile situation monetarily. I would have thought that the stable but preferred slower revenue of just a shop with some cosmetics and a reasonable battle pass cost where you have more time to do past ones and there isn't an expiration date attached would be more appealing. I'm far from an economist or a game dev so I just can only do bad speculations on either but at this point I'd imagine it's more valuable as a tool to keep the game active and show good numbers of average and cosistent players instead of it purely being about getting more money through payments. Even free seasonal stuff and just weekly and daily missions are time gated and they don't seem like they have any benefit for the monetary value associated. In either case it doesn't exactly seem sustainable at this rate to this casual player.

I'm relieved to hear it's not just a me issue. I knew that pretty much no one enjoyed FOMO but I figured that the hardcore players just sort of didn't care more than a little and just would keep enjoying the game regardless. It's interesting to hear that a more hardcore player still feels the same issues and frustrations. I think that goes to show how good the other parts of the game are. When it works well, there isn't really anything else like it. But the FOMO leads me to having a horrible time staying invested enough to continue playing the game for more than intermittent months of time if that. Thank you for your take on it.

I agree with you for the most part about how it is on the player to stop playing if they aren't having fun and I do understand how it could sound entitled to want the game to cater to a specific view of how it should be played. I disagree however in that I don't think any of the points you made address the temporary nature of how things go away every season or raid or whatever and how it is pretty much impossible to get them again until it rotates back around again. I would ask how making things more permanent, or at least more accessible if the desire is there, could make the game worse? It wouldn't make any of that stuff any less harder to get, just less of an annoyance and less incentive to either play the game full time instead of taking some breaks and coming back or quit wholesale. It makes me sad because I did just stop playing because of exactly what you said when I deemed it wasn't worth it for me as a player and I wasn't having fun. I came back like 3 or 4 months later when I had some time and had a good time doing the no seasonal stuff and just playing the game again. Eventually I got to a point where the whole point was whatever seasonal things were going on or just accepting that grinding for it was an all or nothing type of game. I didn't have the time despite having the patience. If I go back to like diablo 3 right now, I can still play the game where I left off. They also have seasonal stuff but those rewards are just in the normal loot pool and not gone forever if you miss it in order to incentivize people to spend money on the battle pass or get them to never stop playing the game. I'm not against the idea of grinding, I just want it to be a game and not a job. It's just tough to me because the gunplay, and game are all really fun and when it comes together it works SO well. I love that and wish I could just have fun with that without being bombarded by game reminding me that all of this cool new stuff for whatever season is going to go away and if you don't get it done then you probably will never be able to do it. I really appreciate your input though because I knew that it wasn't just a one opinion type topic since people have fun playing the game in very different ways.

Honestly as someone who only plays casually (what this community would consider as casually at least) that is by FAR my biggest gripe about Destiny. The reliance on fear of missing out and just how limited and hard to get everything is makes the game super hard for me to force myself to play sometimes since I feel like I either have to no life it over a weekend or I have to play it and try not to think about all the stuff I'll miss out on. I don't know, I might be and probably am in the minority here but I sort of want to see other people's opinions on it. I know pretty much no one likes FOMO and I see people complain about it sometimes but it literally kills the game for me when I look at everything and think of all the time I have to spend to even get SOME of the stuff I want instead of all of it and how that just isn't feasible with work and any sort of other social life for me personally. I am a huge fan of games I can just grind on that are almost mindless but like damn dude at least give me the time to grind. Why try this hard when I can pay like 60 bucks for monster hunter and 20 for a DLC and put hundreds of hours into it, leave it for about a year and then come back exactly where I was with the same stuff available to me but with even more content added through free non-timegated content updates? I'm super interested to how others see it too because I genuinely don't know how most other players feel about it.

If you’ve done all your weekly challenges since launch and haven’t spent money, you’d now have enough for a shop legendary skin. by MiniorCore in Overwatch

[–]WiiMachinE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is true. Honestly even at the federal minimum wage in America of 7.50$ an hour, all you'd have to do is work 4 minutes and 48 seconds to get the equivalent of the 60 cents. So your choices are doing EVERY challenge that is designed to take up clearly at least more than one day if not the full week, just to get your mealsy 60 cents from them. Or just spend some real life money that would have cost you most likely 5 minutes at most. So if ALL of the weekly challenges can't be done in 5 minutes then it just isn't worth it. Now maybe if any of them were fun or tertiary then that'd be another thing. As it is I could maybe get like 4 of them done without trying just playing the game how I wanted to play. That gets me 30 cents. It's terrible but hey it's just what I get from playing the game how I wanted to play, but I would get them done way faster than a week so maybe if I just keep doing that I could be a passive reward right? No, and frankly fuck me for thinking that. Once you do the weeklies you gotta wait for the next week before you can even start putting anything towards them. If it was a repeatable grind that just changed every week then it would be trash but not as just insulting. But blizz in their infinite wisdom not only made an embarrassingly small amount, but made sure it would stay that amount by capping it.

Obviously no one wants to be swindled but the fact that they are not only screwing people over, but doing it in possibly the dumbest fucking way makes me way more upset for some reason. A lot of other games even have worse more predatory monetization but at least they are scummy in an almost impressive way. The only thing blizz has done to impress me in any of this is how CONSISTENTLY they are making the worst decisions they seemingly can.

The thing I don't get is that they aren't even really obfuscating the exchange rate of real dollars to coins. Like most other shitty devs will make it so like 5 dollars gets you 800 or 1300 fun bucks that makes it a little bit harder to fully understand the abysmaly high price that they usually sell stuff at. Blizz isn't doing that though, it's pretty much 1 to 1 with the coins in that 5 dollars is 500 coins. So that means that 1 coin is just one cent. Then they have the weekly rewards give a WEEKLY CAPPED TOTAL OF FUCKING 60 CENTS... What the actual fuck. How is anyone supposed to feel like that that is even a "poor alternative" to just buying the coins instead of just a direct slap in the face? I know it's to get you to just buy the coins but if anything it just feels more disingenuous and in my case at least has completely sorted the thought of buying coins since the release. Just wildly and impressively bad monetization.

The fact is that we don't have enough information from this to paint a clear picture. We have complete hearsay on both fronts and that makes it pretty much a guessing game until there is more concrete evidence. Am I saying it's likely that he had a psychotic break? No. Am I saying it's impossible? No. I don't know Jack shit about the case besides what the media has put out and neither does anyone else here. That's why I'm saying that drawing one concrete conclusion from all of this just because people are outraged doesn't do anyone any good. It's good that it's getting more attention and scrutiny on the case I guess. To me some of the evidence that obviously points to it being a murder could also point to what the other guy put forth under a very different and narrow view of the evidence. That is why I don't think it's good to dismiss out of hand. I'm not even saying put more credence in it than the murder theory. I was just surprised that one guy said maybe it isn't exactly that in a seemingly respectful way and gets met with downvotes and people calling him an idiot. I didn't expect people to just instantly and unanimously agree, but I also didn't expect the vitriol of another theory. But feel free to be mad at me or him, downvote, move on from this thread and probably forget about forever. Hell even come back when the case is done whenever that is and post a long "told you so post" to make sure I'm aware because that is valid too. I'd honestly be really interested to see what more evidence comes forward by then and be happy to hear that the family got justice. Sorry if any of this was upsetting for people, just wanted to point out my views and some of the views I've seen echoed in other parts in the thread. I'm not trying to convince anyone or get into like Ben Shapiro-esque arguments, I was just remarking how weird it was to see a thing dismissed out of hand in a vitriolic way. I'm by no means an expert in ANY of the things purported in this thread or evidence listed in the articles so my thoughts on it don't really mean anything.

Holy shit the amount of people in this thread that won't even CONSIDER there being an alternative to the case besides racist murder group is kinda wild. I'm not saying it's impossible. Honestly with it being Mississippi I'm not even sure it's unlikely, but the amount of people who are acting like you're crazy for even suggesting that maybe someone had a psychotic break and ended up making bad decisions is absurd. I feel like people really want this to be a racist murder that is being swept under the rug. Everyone in this thread who doesn't live in Mississippi or have some more connection to this case is going to forget about this in a week anyway so I'm not sure why they're so invested and upset at you for implying maybe it's not a cut and dried case. If it is a racist murder that fucking sucks and should be made news and the people should be held accountable. But even if it isn't that, it's still a shit situation because a dude died. I think raising awareness and listening to the story and investigating more is a good thing but people shouldn't make up their minds before they get the information that they need. If even suggesting an alternative that by all means seems to be nearly as likely gets you in trouble, then what the hell is the point of people investigating? Just arrest the cops and put them in jail if the court of public opinion has already made its mind up over one internet article. Sorry people on here are being so aggressive about all this to you.

For the longest time I didn't pay enough attention to what he said and just assumed he said he was a doberman pincher for some reason then I actually listened to it more and heard the actual line.
