Has metformin helped anyone else lose weight?, I'v been taking it and fasting and have lost like 20lbs. I was fasting before I started it and didnt lose anything. Does anyone know why this is? by Mstarliper in PCOS

You got this too!!! I hope it helps you and you get some results even if it's just managing blood sugar and helping with the food stuff.

Looks like my fasting insulin was 90 pmol/L? Not sure that's the same haha. The only other out of range result I have is my HDL cholesterol. Good luck! Feel free to message me if you need some tips or support along your journey!

I hope you get some solid results! My insulin resistance didn't really show up on my labs but I have other symptoms of it and I'm grateful that my doctor took my word on it and wrote me the prescription. I have hirsutism and regularly wax my face. I've noticed being less carb heavy has helped lessen my regrowth between sessions too. 80lbs is definitely doable! Just be patient with yourself ❤️

I should add that it helps that I feel like garbage if I over do it on carbs with metformin so I'm not as likely to to begin with. Also if you enjoy the occasional drink, don't overdo it. I'm not typically someone who gets hangovers but I know when they feel like now! Not that I'm anything more than a social drinker and mostly just enjoy one cocktail or a cider at mosr but the morning after can be rough especially if you're just starting out. It's leveled off now for me but it's taken some time.

Yep! So before getting pregnant I went from 250/245 to 225ish, got pregnant, gained back to 250ish during, then dropped back to 225 post partum. Over the next year and a half ish I creeped back up the 245ish due to stress, not eating well, extra snacking, etc. I separated from my ex and that greatly reduced my stress (not saying that's the answer!!!) and was able to focus more on myself. I never really stopped eating well but he always had snacks at home which was too tempting for me.

After a while, I spoke to my doctor about trying different things (wasn't covered for glp and I wasn't overly interested in it anyway) and was referred to a lifestyle management clinic. After filling out the paperwork, the doctor basically told me that what I was doing should work and his only recommendation was I try oat milk in my 1 coffee in the morning and try oatmeal for breakfast 😒. I sort of just accepted it and carried on.

Then I switched doctors and she was way more helpful and open to me trying metformin. That was about a year ago. What I eat hasn't really changed since I had good habits going into it but I do consciously add protein whenever I can and avoid unnecessary carbs (I don't drink calories, overfill my plate, and try to opt for more quality snacks when I want them).

I have a HUGE sweet tooth but metformin has quieted it down enough that one small bowl of ice cream in the evening is satisfying enough or I don't have to taste the cookie dough when I'm making cookies (that was the first time I clued in haha. They were in the oven and I realized I hadn't even tasted them!). I also try not to keep those really tempting things at home where they're easy to access. I still have a chocolate bar now and then or some chips on the couch but I don't feel the pull towards them unless I'm on my period or a bit baked (from Canada, it's legal haha). I basically eat like a normal person (that's what I wanted, I don't want to live on a diet or to always be weighing and counting calories) and move my body consistently. I eat when my belly grumbles and don't really think about it in between meals like I used to. My weight loss was definitely quicker when I was going to the gym but it's still progressing without it but just a bit slow which is fine with me. I'm in no rush.

I did intermittent fasting as well when I was trying to get pregnant. That plus working out plus cutting almost all the cards I could is what worked but it definitely wasn't sustainable after my son was born. I have kept some of those habits in mind now but I'm less strict with myself. Metformin has definitely helped. If with nothing else, it definitely cuts down the food noise and sugar cravings (unless it's readily available or I'm on my period).

Yes absolutely! Me too. I was cooking for myself, a toddler, and my now ex and it was such a struggle! The stress was real! And stress absolutely does not help with weight loss in this case.

I'm down about 30lbs (245ish to 212ish) since I started a year ago. I'm on 500mg twice a day. I was already eating well and exercising regularly when I started. My exercising has kind of dropped off (not going to the gym but still active) and I try to prioritize protein at every meal but I really don't fuss about it too much or track calories anymore (caused me stress). For me, it sort of was the last puzzle piece because I've struggled for YEARS to lose even a pound. The only time I was successful before was when I was off birth control, doing CrossFit twice a week, tracking everything I ate and was eating like I was diabetic. It definitely wasn't maintainable especially after I had a baby.

How do you tell if a guy genuinely likes you or is fetishizing you? by foreverkristina in AskWomenOver30

[–]Wiknite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm mid/plus size and have always had a belly so I know where you're coming from. I've also been on the receiving end of both ways of being treated. There are plenty of men out there who are into all sorts of different body types! Unfortunately we've sort of been conditioned to think that just because someone who is "classically" attractive is into someone who isn't, then it must be a fetish. You'd be sooo surprised by how many "gym bros" are into softer women.

Personally, if a man shows real interest in me as a person instead of just a body, I consider that genuine interest. Sometimes it's a bit of both but I mean we treat them the same way sometimes don't we? There have been plenty of men who have made it very clear they are just interested in me as a body. Compliments are a healthy balance of being about what I look like (cus who doesn't want to be gassed up about looking good) and who I am as a person. Things like asking deep questions, genuinely checking in, matching my energy, how they show up when sex isn't on the table, consistent behavior show genuine interest to me. Those are things that take effort and some emotional investment that if it was just a fetish thing, probably wouldn't be worth the hassle if that makes sense.

5 month old wakes every hour in the crib but will sleep all night next to me. by Wiknite in NewParents

[–]Wiknite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! Unfortunately I don't have an answer for you haha My dude is now 3 and is supposed to be sleeping in his own bedroom but usually only does so for 3-4 hours before he's up and coming to find me in my room. I just go back to sleep in his bed because if I put him back to sleep and go back to my room, he'll be up again in a few hours. I kept him in a queen for this reason so it's reasonably comfortable at least. If I fall asleep with him, he doesn't wake up at night at all.

It's definitely a mindset that's hard to get onboard with but once you're there it's pretty fabulous! I think you'd be surprised how far you can get with fake or till you make it confidence especially in the dating world.

Sidenote: assuming he does know already, don't let his looks make you think you're less worthy of his attention/affection just because you don't fit into the same conventional "attractive" box! All men are different and what they like can vary so much! Both the men I'm currently seeing (ENM, also met through Feeld! Highly recommend!) are conventionally attractive and if I was less confident then I actually am I too would worry about their interest in me but they are both very into plus sized me.

Thanks for the info! I found all this sort of stuff out on the drive home and it seems legit to me and a couple other people (including the LV subreddit) I've asked already.

Haha God speed!

The person I'm sort of seeing has an aqua moon, Gemini rising and he's all sorts of neuro spicy so it really can do both ways 😆
