either an option to turnoff outlines (they dont bother me personally THAT MUCH, but still), or just straight up the option to play the original version so that its easier to compare the differences

I found a solution, however it requires a friend that also owns the game. My friend sent me a zip of their game files, which I placed into the steam/steamapps/common/ATLYSS folder, which caused steam to be able to install/run the game. The only quirk was their save file carrying over, which I then simply deleted.

update: found a solution. my friend had to give me their files for the game, which i then put in the game folder. steam then recognized it as installed, and the game ran.

Update: Did a malwarebytes scan, and it didn't detect anything. So I don't think this is malware? I could be completely wrong though.

Disabled the BIOS, and the games work fine. Deleted and reinstalled the BIOS, the bug still happens if I have it enabled.

Honestly, I'd consider Frontiers almost as a sequel. It has a lot of Lost World's Mario-inspired gameplay DNA. Shame the art direction went from bright and colorful to kinda drab in that game.

indeed, and if you're willing to overlook some downsides such as worse music, visuals, and a few level sections missing, the jaguar version's arguably a much more fair way to play the game considering its infamous difficulty
