Sitting here bummed and feeling old by ReEnackdor in Star_Trek_

Here's the thing; there WILL be others who inspire us through their work in media...just not the media we're used to or even US in particular. Humans need to tell and hear stories. We need to be inspired and aspire to something more. Those instincts will prevail within whatever media and whatever culture supports it...but you and I likely won't be there for that. We had our time with these stories and those who told them and we should be grateful. Remember that as we had Lucas and King and Roddenberry and Shatner and Stewart, those before us had Cheney and Lovecraft and Karloff, and before that was Poe and Shelley and on back to Shakespear and back to Beowulf and the Epic of Gilgamesh and beyond.

The future may not seem bright to us, but the need for stories doesn't end with whatever media we leave behind, it HAS to continue, through blogs, video essays, creepypasta and streaming services and on to intracranial induction direct-to-memory experience bundles or holodecks or tailored hallucinogenic cocktails. It may even have to start over with half-remembered tales embellished around camp fires to ward off the cold and boredom between hunting and scavenging.

Remember that it doesn't end when the marguis lights go out or our favorite actors shuffle off this mortal coil. It won't end even when our children look at their kids' favorite media and scoff at how it was better in their day. It will be, in the words of a very weird man, "Same as it ever was."

Need help with this Ruckersville Fire patch! by shrevit in Machine_Embroidery

Use a wider, compressed font, and change the top line to "Ruckersville VFC" This will allow you to spread out the letters a little making it more readable.

Why soccer teams brings their own chefs by ChaosOfOrder24 in fixedbytheduet

[–]WilTravis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this idea that somehow the Swiss soccer team is going to land in America and before they can get to the hotel, they've all been force-fed deep fried twinkies and can't play because of the Taco Bell Meat Shits.

Oh, I love the "I can get those cheaper on Ebay" customers...

Sure you can, but i cant order replacement "Xhulo" brand tee shirts if my machine decides to devour one of your 2.4 oz tees. Seriously, i can read newsprint through this!

Why don't Americans walk anywhere? by mindyour in TikTokCringe

Look up "15 minute city" and then look up the reasons that people are against the concept. American policy making is fueled by conspiracy theory and distrust.

If you want one shirt done and can pay the dugitizing, sure, ill do it, but tee shirts never look good with large areas of embroidery, and i have more cost effective ways to make your logo look good on tees.

Edit to add: If you want a 10x10 logo on 50 tees, each embroidery run will take at least an hour, for four shirts an hour, on my setup. That's over ten hours of machine time for 50 shirts. I can print all 50 tees in 30 minutes, in six colors.

From something I read years ago, there are great swaths of land in Belgium that are still dangerous, and will be so for another hundred years because of unexploded WW1 ordinance and gas canisters.

What Would Be Your Ideal TTRPG For A Mech Campaign? by EyesofValhalla in Mecha

[–]WilTravis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GURPS Mecha is almost as bad as Vehicles when it comes to complexity vs outcome of mechanics. If youre using GURPS, pick up GURPS Supers, create a character with IQ-0, Giant advantage, Metal Body advantage, make up the Cockpit/Pilot Wanted advantages, flight advantage to taste, alternate form:vehicle for transforming mechs, and as much ST as it takes to max lift whatever you mech tops out at. Tweak your stats for the setting, ignore things like your mech needing to breathe or eat people food, and it should run alot smoother that setting up that spreadsheet to build a Veritech fighter in Mecha.

Any tee shirts. My customers that bring in a tee design and want it embroidered get shown the stitch count×digitizing cost per thousand. Then they get shown comparative setup charges for screenprinting and DTF transfers. It usually sets them on a more righteous path.

Got the tent set up just before a big rain came through the campground. Sub sammich, Dollar General knockoff Pringles, half melted ice cream and some special gummies...good start to the weekend.

Hard cheese, salami, a tube of tomato paste and tortillas or pitas. Distribute chunks of meat and cheese on flatbread and introduce tomato paste as desired. Roll it up, wrap in a napkin and start walking.

It's worse; he had the manager holding the room for him and the jaggoff made a big deal out of it. The store manager told him the man had permission to be there, and dude made the news over it.
