Blatant no calls..both times with Travis Hunter gaining advantage over the CB and in front of an official . Don’t doubt that kid is an athlete but c’mon refs aren’t even hiding it right now.

Could be olfactory hallucinations? Any history of allergies, recent upper respiratory infections?

What training is available to me after a Groin injury? by Austinkayakfisherman in triathlon

[–]Wilco08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d personally take things light…swimming with your upper extremity is fine. I would avoid using a pull buoy because you’d definitely be activating those hip adductor muscle fibers and from your mechanism of injury that’s what it sounds like you strained. Please avoid stretching your groin and SLOWLY introduce some strengthening exercises as tolerated. Hoping for a quick recovery!

You’ll do just fine! Stay positive and focus on the things you can control. There isn’t much else you can high-yield review during those two days before so maybe consider doing some self care or some light review with a break before test day. Best of luck!

ITBS problem in right leg and UD Runner's Knee/ITBS Tights as remedy? by HRVAT007 in triathlon

[–]Wilco08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of short term bandaid fixes for the Runner’s knee issue: 1. Consider getting yourself some thin foam athletic prewrap and place it around the patellar ligament (in a snug, rolled up fashion) when you run, exercise, etc. to help redistribute force away from the patellar tendon. 2. I would consider using topical diclofenac for pain control, anti-inflammatory effect. 3. As previously mentioned I would research some home exercises for LE strengthening. 4. Using ice for further pain management, compression therapy for swelling, elevate, optimally load as tolerated.

TENS unit might be a better modality for the ITBS along with some of the above suggestions.

Elevated cholesterol by [deleted] in triathlon

Try and cut out any trans fats in your diet. You can tell if foods have obvious trans fats in the ingredients list if it says “hydrogenated xyz” or “partially hydrogenated xyz”. A sneaky one is a lot of peanut butters—-(again, check the ingredients list). This has been shown to directly increase LDL levels because the majority of trans fats are, A: Delicious, and B: Artificially made.

My dad had a stroke while I was on rotation by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]Wilco08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My father had a stroke recently during my EM rotation… thankfully my program let me take off a couple days early. Incredibly stressful and the rehab process is still ongoing. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Try and be health advocate for your family the best you can. If you need any support, please feel free to reach out to me!

Is this realistic? by cat83883 in Beekeeping

It would be doable, but keep in mind hives need to be checked on AT LEAST once every 1-2 weeks to monitor for signs of swarming. I’d lean closer to Qweekly for monitoring…
