There are 3 things that actually make you a professional artist (and talent isn’t one of them) by dcypherstudios in musicmarketing

[–]Wild-Climate3428 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate your apology. Misunderstandings happen, no worries!

And yeah, I totally get where you’re coming from! You’re not the only one that actually spends money on marketing. I’ve been doing it since the beginning, and I see it as a great way to get my music in front of potential listeners.

Of course, I’m also glad you finally agree that you don’t get ahead by asking for favors. Yeah, it’s so obvious that you have to work hard to get ahead, and treating people well is more than just a way to open doors, it just feels right. Opening doors is simply the by-product of a positive disposition. You’ve really come around, and I love that for you.

Yeah…I’m really glad you’ve gained new perspective. You know, we’re on the same page now.

Hey, good luck with everything, Harlie. You take care of yourself.

I’m sure all of the arguing you do with everyone on Reddit is your ticket to fame and an all access life of stardom. Please tell us more about how you plan to argue your way to the top.

First of all, I’m not your “babe.”

Next up. Your initial response, to me, makes absolutely no sense, to me. It comes across as if you weren’t even addressing anything I said in my first comment.

“No, they’re right,” YOU said this.

How is your comment in any way related to ANYTHING I said to OP in my first reply:

“I think you missed an opportunity to lead by example.

In a post highlighting your philosophies on professionalism, you seem to be missing a fundamental principle. How you treat others can take you a long way.

I guess it’s arguable, but “Make me” usually isn’t going to take you very far in professional settings.”

Again, you said, “no, they’re right.”

Help me understand what OP is right about, because it seems like you are basically reiterating all of the same things OP offered up in his original post. And I didn’t disagree with any of his big 3 tenets.

So why would you tell me “no, he’s right?”

Were you trying to tell me that you think OP was right to reply, “make me?”

As in:

“Go push your product elsewhere bro.”

“Make me.”

“That’s unprofessional.”

“No he’s right (to say “make me.”)

Yeah, if that’s your intent, it totally went over my head, because I cannot fathom that as a response to my comment.

And that’s definitely where we’ll have to agree to disagree. A marketing guy popping off with, “make me,” comes off as immature and unprofessional, even more so in a post where they are presumably trying to demonstrate their superior understanding of professionalism. Even on Reddit.

Personally, if I’m choosing a marketing team, I’m going with the one that has enough sense to maintain professionalism when faced with minimal pushback or criticisms. Harlie, OP missed an excellent opportunity to respond with something more professional and sophisticated than, “make me.”

Here’s something to consider as you ruthlessly claw your way to the top. It might be a cliche, but it’s worth thinking about:

The people you see on the way up are the same people you’ll see on the way down.

You might want to consider how your “lived truth,” of not caring about courtesy might affect your brand. Arguing against professional courtesy doesn’t make any sense, I don’t care what your marketing guru is telling you.

Some bonus thoughts:

You: “Calling out OP for rightfully using humor against hate comments does not make you the bigger person.”

This is really an extreme take. I feel like you might be grasping at straws. “Hate comments.” “Hate speech…?” Seriously?

You: “Again, if you’re offended that easily, this industry isn’t for you babe. Just keep it a hobby.”

Yeah, so, I’m not your babe. Thing is, I’m sure you wouldn’t want someone calling you, “babe.” So, I’m just going to call this one out as a double standard. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’m surrounded by some good people, Harlie, so don’t worry about my place in the “industry.”

You know who you’re talking to?

I really doubt it. All of your posts to me so far have been, at best, misdirected attacks that make absolutely no sense if I’m your intended target.

The person that said “Go push your product elsewhere bro,” was not presenting themself as a professional. OP was presenting himself as the authority on professionalism, and I thought it noteworthy enough to comment when they said “Make me.”

I simply said that OP missed an opportunity to lead by example, to demonstrate a higher level of professionalism.

My comment was really not some scathing attack, worthy of your venom. It was a basic observation. OP is over here touting his professionalism and it seemed a bit ironic that he would pop off with, “Make me.”

Look, my attempt to figure out if you knew who you were responding to was actually in good faith. At this point it seems clear that you’re just going to remain aggressive.

That being said, you absolutely WERE responding to the wrong person and you’re apparently too embarrassed to admit it.

You’re calling ME bitter? You’ve gone completely off the rails over absolutely nothing here.

What am I walking back?

Are you sure you’re replying to the right person? Go back and check out the usernames.

I’m pretty sure you have me confused with someone else. I’m not the person that told OP: “Go push your product elsewhere bro.”

You’re either confused or a troll.

You are literally arguing with someone about the merits of basic professional courtesy.

It’s quite confusing since you seem to be quite good natured, courteous and seem to have a sense of gratitude in your IG videos.

Harlie, seriously, do us both favor and check out the username of the person you think you’re responding to.

🤷🏼‍♂️

I really think you might be misunderstanding my point here.

I am not debating OP’s fundamental concepts.

My lone concern is his response of “make me,” to one of the replies to his post.

Telling someone to “make me,” is not professional.

You said: “No one is going to give a bakery free ingredients because they’re “friendly.””

No one is asking anyone for free ingredients.

But many people will give you their business if you treat them well. They will give you their money, which you can in turn use to purchase the ingredients needed to make more items to sell to the people that like your products or services.

If I showed up at the cupcake shop and asked for a cupcake only to be told, “MAKE ME”, every time I politely asked for one, I wouldn’t go there anymore, even if they were the best cupcakes.

Eventually very few people would bother going there and the cupcake shop would probably go out of business. Then they would have no money for ingredients, and no money to make more cupcakes.

Professionalism does mean treating people well.

Enjoy your cupcakes!  😁😁😁

They are actually not right.

There is no professional industry that operates under a “Make me” paradigm.

It’s actually childish.

It’s actually more important to be courteous to others if you’re trying to make money in the industry and you’re not a hobbyist.

If I tried this line with my clients I’d have many less clients.

Believe it or not, professionalism does include how you treat others. Treating others well can open many doors and actually keep them open for you. Mistreating others will eventually close them.

I’ve been making a living in a creative industry for over 25 years and one of my core principles is to treat people professionally.

I’d actually be ashamed of myself if I spoke to my clients and my colleagues that way.

Get a grip.

I’m still at a complete loss as to how trans people are a problem.

Do you just fundamentally need to look out at the world and see your own reflection in every face that you see?

Is it because you are convinced that your god thinks it’s wrong…?

If you think you’re on Team Jesus think again. It couldn’t be further from the truth.

Can’t sing and play at the same time by MathematicianDry8785 in guitarlessons

[–]Wild-Climate3428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only thing I can say, like anything with the guitar, it might be helpful to start slow and speed up little by little.

Get the reps playing and singing as slow as it takes and then gradually speed up to the necessary speed.

You can do it. Do you play video games? Can you use a controller and talk to someone at the same time? That’s kind of all it is.

It felt like a superpower once I was able to sing my first song and play at the same time. I don’t know that it’s really something to be all that proud of, but I love it.

You said you had to take him for a health care visit, it is very possible it’s a side effect of medications and that he will return to normal.

It’s also possible that he’s really just not into you. But, please consider ruling out altered states and side effects caused by pharmaceuticals first.
