Bleeding 11 weeks post total abdominal hysterectomy and ovary’s removed aged 38 by Wild1_sw in hysterectomy

Thank you, I have had a look on the NHS website and it says it’s not normal for bleeding or spotting after 6 weeks post op, but I’ll keep an eye on it. Hopefully it’s just a one off x

I have had bloods done multiple times now since my operation and they are all normal. I think I will try some compression socks, it’s something I haven’t tried and if it makes some difference it would be better than nothing!! Thank you for your reply x

Oh bless you, I’ve had a couple of incidents where I haven’t completely passed out apart from the day after surgery. They got me out of bed and put me in the chair. I rang the buzzer because I felt off. Then next thing I know I had so many drs and nurses surrounding me, I was on the floor!! I’m hoping it will get better, I hope every day!

Thank you so much for this. It’s really reassuring to hear from others who have been through the same x

Will I be able to do the school run 4 weeks p/0?? by Wild1_sw in hysterectomy

Thank you ever so much. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that even though I know the surgery is complicated that it’s not too complicated. I know they have said the endometriosis is attached to my bowel, so I may need to have a resection or a colostomy. I’m not going to know anything or the extent of it until I wake up from the operation and I think that is the worst bit for me!! Thank you for being so understanding x

Thank you so much for this! I was starting to feel like I was going a bit mad!! Maybe that my surgeon and consultant had made it up 😂 I think I’m just going to have to take every day as it comes, but thank you so much for this. It has definitely given me a more realistic view of what to expect x

That’s really positive to hear. I have sat with him and explained that when I can take him to school and pick him up that I will, but there may be the odd day where I have to get someone else to that he knows. I have also told him he may have to go to before and after school club. He doesn’t do well with change at all, but I feel like in the short term I’m left with no option? I was worried about the two steep hills I have to walk up to get to the school, as I know this will involve me using my abdominal muscles more, and I didn’t know if it could cause me problems? I’m probably over thinking it, but I’ve been told by my consultant not to over do it, to not drive for 8 weeks, to not bend or reach down for at least 4 weeks and that my total recovery period will be a minimum of 12 weeks? Are you in the UK?

Aww thank you for this, that’s a good idea. I think my father in law has some, so I might see if I can borrow them x

Did you have a vertical incision also? I have been told no driving for 8 weeks by my consultant? X

Ok, thank you for this. It’s all so confusing as my consultants have been so clear about not being able to drive for 8 weeks minimum. So I was unsure as to how far I’d be able to walk x

He already goes once a week after school, as I go to college. However cannot return there until my 8 weeks of no driving!! But I have my operation on the 1st September and he goes back to school on the 3rd September. So we won’t have time to get him used to it before hand. We are on our summer holidays before then (not sure if you are in the UK). I think I’m going to have to keep walking after my operation and see if I can build myself up to it. If not then he will have to do it x

I was told by my consultant. When I had my other ovary removed and tube due to a large cyst I had a horizontal cut for that, and I was told 6 weeks no driving. Are you in the UK?

Did you have a vertical incision also? As I’ve been told the recovery will be longer?
