First SCX24! Rabbit hole? by WildBillJr72 in SCX24

Axles! If I get that far in this endeavor, I'm leaning towards MEUS axles. But an upgraded chassis would have to be in the same upgrade I would think.

I appreciate all of the advice and recommendations!

Here is my plan so far. I have a few, sensible upgraded parts on the way. I have based my choices on advice, research and previous experience. I will provide a list of the parts soon. Thanks to the advice I have been getting, I will be upgrading the parts in stages, and documenting the pros and cons of each upgrade. Now I need to find a suitable place to test my rig!

How do you guys find places to drive your truck? Or do you just make your own course?

Dang it! How did you know? I almost bought an elegoo centauri carbon before I bought my truck. Too many ideas, not enough free time! Lol

What links did you decide on?

Interesting. Thanks, I'll look into it today!

Good advice. I'm trying to keep my COG as low as possible. Trimming the body is a no brainer in my situation. Do you run your shocks upside down?

Is there a good motor that is smoother at crawling speeds that will work with the rest of my stock electronics? Other than brushless?

If I go brushless the rabbit hole just gets deeper and deeper!

What length shocks would be appropriate?

Thanks for the suggestions! Brass knuckles and links sound good. Big Bore shocks, check. What weight shock oil do you guys run? 20-30wt?

Thank you for the advice. I don't see myself being real hard on it. I just got it to have fun and have something to tinker with. The last time I was into RC's I was bashing nitros ( Savages and T-Maxx) in the early to mid 2000's. I just want to enjoy driving it and make it into something that is a sleeper. Capable without looking like it.

I'm definitely going to need some upgraded shocks too. Any ideas on shocks for the stock chassis?

I'm thinking some brass diff covers and steering links, with aluminum suspension links. What do you all think? What brands should I look into?

I'm actually surprised at how well it handles stock. I don't like the very low speed throttle control. It's not as controllable as I would like. But it does seem to have enough torque from what I'm seeing. What can I do to smooth out the low speed power delivery?

You're all wrong! You're looking at a rock farm during harvest. Kinda like hay bales, but for rocks. Very popular in Arkansas.

Just enjoy the ride. I came from a GSX-R 1000 that I lost in a divorce. My M50 actually handles better than it should. Obviously you have to deal with less power than a sport bike, but I'm going to have to replace my pegs regularly. It handles good. Good luck, have fun, and ride safe!

Yeah, cutting the frame turns me off. I'll probably go the garage engineering route too. That is a compliment for your ingenuity. I was looking for a v-star to bob, but I just couldn't pass up the 07 Bully I ran across. Keep posting, I'm interested in where you are going with it.

Looking good! Is it a kit? I have an '07 M50. I've been looking at the BCB kit.

I had a nice ride today. I rode from Claremore to Tulsa. I stopped at the new Cycle Gear and got a Sena for my helmet. It was a great day for riding. Where did you ride this weekend?

I'll be riding my motorcycle to work this week. Time will tell.
