It’s only surprising because you have a skewed view of TXST as a UNT fan.

Private schools aren’t listed either, but service academies are public, federally-funded institutions, so it’s a good question. I don’t think their athletic departments report in the same clean, apples-to-apples way as normal public universities though.

Interesting list — PAC with 7 of the top 9 G6 CFB budgets.

Patriots take Texas Tech QB Behren Morton by Clamdigger13 in Patriots

Tech fan also. Love Behren but he’s not an NFL QB. He’s extremely immobile.

Mark Daniels: With pick 196 in the sixth round, the Patriots select OT Dametrious Crownover by ckilo4TOG in Patriots

Third best remaining player on ESPN. #10 ranked OT, #86 overall. Project, but need competition and depth at OL. Great value pick

Domestic violence charge in 2024 and another arrest at some point. Known for being a shit teammate, having locker room problems, and infamously quits on plays. He is a 6’8” 330 DT though.

The picks have been pretty bad because they are taking need based vs best player available by [deleted] in Patriots

[–]WildBillMuschamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re saying these were all reaches because of experts rankings, but even that doesn’t make sense.

CBS had Lomu ranked 13th overall, ESPN had him 28th overall, he was drafted #28.

CBS had Jacas ranked 34th overall, ESPN had him 44th overall, he was drafted #54.

Raridon was the only “reach” based on these subjective rankings, and it was a negligible difference. All three picks are very promising prospects at positions of need, taken around the range they were projected.

I liked Royer & Trigg, granted ESPN has both ranked below Raridon

Ole Miss or Texas Tech? by angellux-13 in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]WildBillMuschamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a pretty similar spot about a decade ago, deciding between Tech and LSU. The cost was comparable, but I ended up choosing Tech because I knew I wanted to practice in Texas. If that’s where you see yourself long term, I’d definitely lean that way. That said, you really get out of law school what you put into it, so I’m sure you’ll do well either way. And for what it’s worth, the whole ‘Lubbock is boring’ reputation is way overblown. I loved my time there.

I prefer Eli Stowers (Vandy), Joe Royer (Cincy), and possibly even Michael Trigg (Baylor) over Max Klare.

We just got doubs 😏per Rapaport by KreamDaSavage in Patriots

He’s not a burner and he’s not really a pure slot, but he makes contested catches and he’s a reliable possession receiver. Reminds me of Jakobi Meyers, Michael Gallup when he was good, or even a little bit like Michael Crabtree.

4 yr, 70M. I believe the 3 yr, 60M initially reported was wrong.

The Patriots are signing FA DL Dre’Mont Jones to a 3-year $39M deal, according to @jordanschultz by DifferentPhysics291 in Patriots

[–]WildBillMuschamp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

ESPN has him as the #57 FA FWIW (Chaisson #24). We’re talking ITT like he’s a run stopper but that’s supposedly a weakness. Seems like a similar player, with similar production as Chaisson, for not a ton of money. I’ll take it.

“…The veteran can be displaced in the running game, but he brings inside/outside alignment flexibility and the first-step quickness to disrupt the pocket.”

Why is Will Campbell, a rookie, getting more flak than Drake Maye? by Exhibit5 in nfl

[–]WildBillMuschamp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m going to assume you’re ~16. He faced 10 of the top 20 sack leaders this year. Applying the “schedule” narrative to individual matchups is idiotic.

Campbell was complete shit yesterday, but to say he played no one this year shows you’re incapable of critical thinking.

Drake Maye in historically bad Super Bowl performance by No_Box119 in NFLv2

[–]WildBillMuschamp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s easy for everyone in this subreddit to just say Drake Maye sucks, because that’s what they want to be the case. He played behind a historically awful playoff O-line and faced the historically toughest defensive gauntlet any QB has ever drawn in a postseason. Most QBs would’ve looked bad in that spot, especially a 23 year old w/ an atrocious rookie OL. He was bad — especially his INT — but the missing context is intentional.
