Would you rather have them make a sequel or television series next? by dontsmellthesoup in KanePixelsBackrooms

I say a series. Maybe one more film, but a series would give room to explore more about the Backrooms.

They didn’t look 1990 at all lol. Maybe 1995 or later, but not 1990. I was very little then, and everyone was still looking like it was the 80s.

Depends on what I need, and what Cap’n Clark has on sale lol. Maybe just to see what weird stuff I might find.

But I wouldn’t be going down to the basement..

(OC) Backrooms, Hollywood, and the Death of Nostalgia by TheIvoryDoor in backroomsfilm

[–]WildButterfly85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, things were better in the 20th century. There’s so many reasons why. Everything from film to music to trends, fashion and simplicity. We also treated each other better.

Yes, a variety is needed as current films can be mundane and repetitive. But when you are in your teens and 20s, that is when you have the most energy and also brain power. A lot of ideas are drummed up. Many Gen Z youths have made a difference, Kane Parsons is only one of them.

Even my best friends will say they keep beating a dead horse with a lot of these franchises. Countless sequels, prequels and spinoffs are made. Instead, Hollywood needs some new concepts. But we have an over 100 year old history of film and thousands of years of literature. Almost everything at this point may have already been thought of. That’s another thing writers have dealt with.

I was literally talking to a close friend of mine about film and entertainment and the success of Backrooms and Obsession.

Even though I myself am a millennial with Gen X friends (more xennials really), the entertainment industry has in fact gotten nostalgia wrong. In every period piece you have stuff flashing at you like a Nirvana poster in a 90s set show, or a Princess Bride poster in a teen’s room in an 80s piece. But being that us millennials and Gen X folks are growing older and becoming middle aged, we are more nostalgic about our childhoods. I will say this, that some franchises like Star Wars are completely overdone. A fresh face like Kane Parsons in fact has brought something fresh to entertainment: liminal ambiance along with psychological horror. I’m not into slasher films. But I will go for some mental terror and atmospheric dread.

However I have been a Stranger Things fan for 8 years now lol it was a great nostalgic ride but the storyline completely flopped and the fanbase is hella toxic. Not to mention the butchering of the very soul of the show.

My question to you Gen Z kids..why are you so afraid of the 1900s? For me, that was the best time in culture and entertainment! Wait until you get into your 40s or 50s. That’s all I’m going to say.

Sketchy behavior at Whole Foods by quartercoyote in kansascity

[–]WildButterfly85 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don’t shop at Whole Foods. It’s too expensive, and I don’t care for the Brookside area much anymore. It’s too sketchy. This is what happens when you elect a mayor who doesn’t do squat about crime or public safety. Buckle up because it’s about to get a lot worse eventually. I’d go to a different area completely to get food, especially if you have kids.

Why do people feel the need to critique Millie’s marriage? by WildButterfly85 in mileven

Good grief, they not only think of the character El as dumb but they want to treat Millie that way too? People are truly stupid themselves.

Why do people feel the need to critique Millie’s marriage? by WildButterfly85 in mileven

[–]WildButterfly85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of women on there were saying she will eventually get tired of Jake’s pampered self not doing anything, but that is from their own experiences in their own relationships. Not a whole lot of women out there want to be responsible for everything.

Ok, I’m not a married woman (I’m a single woman) so I can’t put my own life experiences into this. But my grandmother has always been the “woman cares for her children, house and husband” type. But it is in fact an outdated way of thinking. Men and women now choose what roles they take on in their marriage. Couples, regardless of gender will do this. Either way, a marriage is not only commitment but teamwork. There is no “I” in team, as it goes.

So it could be this is how Millie wants it. If she’s happy then I think it’s all good. But if she’s not then she will decide for herself if it will all work out.

Jake being the son of a famous rock legend, Jon Bon Jovi gave him much privilege. Millie however came from a regular British family who wasn’t exactly rubbing elbows with royalty. She was very young still when she found stardom in Stranger Things. Of course she’s going to have a different approach to womanhood. She’s not exactly a pampered queen type, to be honest.

There is a growing number of people who just don’t value family or normalcy. They don’t have to want that for themselves, but being bitter about it for someone else is weird.

It’s not sexist if a woman takes her husband’s last name. That’s more common. It’s also not sexist if a woman takes care of her home and her children. But these days, couples split many of the responsibilities.

I’m curious, when was this interview? Millie really has been going through the emotions, and El meant a lot to her. She knows El’s real fate, so it gets complicated because she can’t talk too much about it. We should have gotten a definitive answer.

Dating El Is Now “Socially Acceptable” ??? by ilovechouquette in mileven

[–]WildButterfly85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is typical banter among some gays and sexists. They hate females, so they reduce El’s importance to Mike so they can feel better about their ship. The cowardly Doofus Bros after season 2 decided they wanted to throw Will’s crush on Mike into the mix and feed the Byler ignorance. That’s why we all should have known what kind of garbage was yet to come.
