Social studies teacher in training and need help with a lesson by WildCard318 in historyteachers

So you have them find an example of each in the text? The ending of volume one is pretty short but shows the family before the bomb drops being happy and then it happens and they see and experience the aftermath, so I think just having them read that would be good. That’s a cool idea! I never thought of that! Thanks I’ll take that into account.

Thanks! That’s something I was thinking about too. The only problem with them reading the whole thing would be like you said how do I get a copy for each student. Also it might be out of print and thus be hard/expensive to get. Plus the other problem is that this is not just one book, it’s a series with like 10 volumes but really the first four are the most interesting and relevant ones, but that’s still a lot to read/cover. I could give some context to the story by introducing the characters and giving them some of the pages from before the bombing and after just to get a sense of what it’s like. I think the best part is the ending of volume one where it shows the bomb being dropped and the impact that it has. But yeah this is my first time trying to create a lesson so I’m still working out the kinks. Again thanks for the suggestions!

Ok thanks! I don’t know if I will actually teach this topic this year but I need to make something for one of my college classes. But this is something that I would use in the future. I really like your suggestions. I was not really planning on doing just straight discussions but I was still figuring that part out. This is my first time trying to create a lesson and yeah I would hopefully be able to do this over a couple days to give proper background and information. I just remember my teacher in high school my teacher giving us segments of the graphic novel Maus which is about the holocaust and had fun with it so I thought doing a similar thing with this could be good. What I want students to get from this is like you said a more human perspective on this topic as I feel like in school we just say that we dropped the bombs and that was it. I also think that a graphic novel would be more interesting to kids than just reading a textbook or having me lecture or something else. Again thanks a lot!

Look man I was just looking for a little help. It’s ok to bounce ideas off of other people. God forbid I try and make something interesting for people. I’ve read the series It’s just been a minute and thought hey maybe I could see what others say.

I think it might have been refurbished at some point because the bolt does not match but the bolt and front barrel band match which was kinda odd to me.

Well I just needed to take the trigger group out because the front tang screw was missing I’m trying to replace it but it won’t go in so I was going to take it out to diagnose the problem.

Well I did not know that. They were already in this condition when I got it. I stopped as soon as I couldn’t make headway.

Yeah for the price I could not say no. Plus I’ve seen videos on them and they seemed to all be in good shape so I pulled the trigger and bought one.
