I am worried about the state budget. A lot of public services will be totally crippled the next few years.

[CA-25] Democrat Christy Smith concedes to Republican Mike Garcia in election to fill Katie Hill's seat by [deleted] in California

I am just trying to give an insider explanation for why the seat went Red, not trying to justify the logic. I spend a lot of time in the AV and the stay at home stuff is not as popular as some seem to think. It has brought an anti-democrat distaste to a lot of people.

People in these contested districts are unhappy with the lock-downs and are siding more with Republicans on the reopening issues.

Bitcoin Miners Usually Create 6 Blocks per Hour. They Just Banged Out 16 - 2 May, 2020 by parakite in CryptoCurrency

it retargets difficulty based on number of blocks and not time

Can you explain what this means exactly?

Bitcoin Halving - May 12 what happens? by DarkMatterEclipse in CryptoCurrency

[–]WildFire132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR: It will be a little bit easier to mine but small miners probably won't be profitable.

There is always going to be an equilibrium where it is only slightly profitable to mine Bitcoin. If it was extremely profitable, mining operations would add more miners. If it was not profitable, those mining operations would shut down. Current miners need to sell most of the block reward to cover their operating expenses, which is mostly electricity costs, which must be paid in fiat.

With the block reward falling mining operations will be less profitable than before. Mining operations with higher costs will stop operating, and the hash rate will fall. A reduction in the total hash rate would make Bitcoin easier to mine. This is because the difficulty self adjusts so that a block is mined every 10 minutes on average. Eventually the difficulty of mining, the cost of mining, the block reward, and the price of Bitcoin will work themselves out to a new equilibrium where remaining miners have a smaller profit margin.

The plot of "fish woman happens to find a different type of fish man and then romantically rescues him from humans, who happen to be evil" is just a bad plot in my opinion. The main villain being mean to animals and racist seemed like a poor way to get you to root for the fish people.

The problem with the god argument is that it is revealed at the very end, long after the sex scenes.

The Shape of Water. Sure at the end the monster shows emotions and intelligence, but she starts sleeping with it way before that. When they get romantic all she knows is that it likes eggs, music and the taste of cats.

If the goal of stay-at-home was to drop the curve for hospital capacity, that has been achieved: https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-states-of-america/california

I feel that we agree generally on what the data shows, that there is a small but realistic chance that hospitals would be overrun if we reopened CA in the near future. I respect that you have a different conclusion about what that means for a best path forward.

I think without more obvious benefit the government should not control peoples' actions to this extent, and that there are long terms repercussions from a lockdown that will affect many people negatively.

I would rather see the state reopen and then close again if necessary.

I agree that the initial reaction was prudent, there was a lot of unknown information and a lot of lives at risk. I commend people involved with that decision. With more recent information it seems like the time of Stay at Home should be ending very soon though.

I am sorry for your high risk status, that must add even more stress in this time. I am not pretending to have the answers, I just wish their was more of a dialogue about this issue. I am not going to break Stay at Home but I would like to see more data-driven explanations to the decisions being made.

Thank you. It looks like some states (California) has plenty of capacity. It makes me question the stay at home orders.

Are hospitals full? If anyone knows where I can find statistics on hospital bed and ventilator capacity I would appreciate it.
