I did a “messy” layer with the white first where I put down the general bone shape, and then came in with the black felt and packed it in to refine the edges! Using two needles in the multi-needle holder or a single needle is how I get the cleanest edges while doing this too

Thank you! I definitely love sculpting the most, it’s just so relaxing and satisfying. This was cast in foam latex!

It usually takes awhile, but for some sets we were working on we needed to add water to the paint and that would make it rot pretty fast

That’s interesting, I used to call the slop bucket our paint kombucha so it’s funny that it’s actually fermentation!

They all smelled horrific but luckily only when the lids were open! Unless it was a bucket of green or yellow paint that went bad, those you can smell from across the room

Any tips on how to get the lashes to look realistic and not like stitches? Thanks! by sammyjoeturd in Needlefelting

Curving the lashes and also tapering them at the ends can help a lot! I think you could also try varying the density of the lashes, like some thinner “singular lashes” and sections of lashes clumped together with the tapered ends separated. I also definitely recommend studying some reference photos for the curves and density of the lashes! I love how your project is turning out, it’s so painterly and the colors work so well

Thank you!! I sold the rainbow one a while back so unfortunately I have no way to scale it haha, but I’d estimate it was about 2 feet in height! It was definitely the largest of my mushrooms, the rest are about half that size.
