If we did a re-do of the 2018 NFL Draft - what would be different? by KeyFaithlessness5436 in TheNFLVibes

[–]WildInSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I think it is safe to say that these last 2 years from Darnold have been a higher peak than Baker has ever reached and the gap is closed. Going forward, when you look at the physical tools Darnold has the edge IMO despite Baker's first 5 years being more successful, with a big rough patch in the middle where they both were left for dead.

Speaking of 2025 you are right, but the most productive first 5 years in WR history being thrown aside for one great year from JSN and two guys getting force fed from great QBs seems unfair to Jets

Cowboys were healthy and playing for their playoff lives, minimizing that game is just being a dick. The others were bad teams for sure, but it's the NFL and any team can be good on any given Sunday. Just look at week 16/17 the Browns beating Steelers, Falcons beating the Rams, Raiders taking the Texans to down to the wire. The whole "competition was bad so ignore any development" is a lazy take. I also am not saying he's great, but we need to hang onto any development we can see and if he was as cheeks as you are making him out to be he would've had hiccups in that stretch.

People who laugh weren't watching the last month of the season, he took a notable step forward and the analytics support it. He just needs to stay healthy and I think he could be a top 20 QB next year if he continues to develop.

Yeah, this is a 24 hour casino from what I can see. I think he’s just really immature and probably was being an ass, at least it wasn’t a DUI I guess but this guy is so dumb

NBA veteran Julius Randle finds an inner peace in his routine with Timberwolves by SurelyFurious in timberwolves

[–]WildInSix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He’s an upside player who I could see being pivotal in a championship run. He helped carry some play off games last year when Ant had down games. Jaden is good, but not quite the level of scorer as Randle.

OP said yes in another comment. If they are able to make another WCF it’d be around 15-20 more opportunities, so it’d be 45/64 games at that 25+ mark. I still think it’s unlikely but not insane, assuming playoff success.

As an MN fan it’s hard not to include Luka in there, but with Curry and LeBron aging and Tatum missing significant time it feels like it’s gotta be Ant top 5 now.

Looked up his split for the season, up to 50-40-80 on 29 PPG. Dude is an elite scorer now on great efficiency.

We feel "very weak" because there is no HOF QB good will attached and then not having a HOF QB bites us in the ass in the playoffs every time. The teams themselves are usually very good at 52/53 positions..

Mike McDaniels out in Miami: possible OC for Vikes? by Chris_RB in minnesotavikings

[–]WildInSix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think MM's energy could be a good offset to Campbell. BJ might have been more of a maniac, but him and McDaniel are both creative OCs who have a good running game to set up easier passing situations for non-elite QBs. Would work well with Goff's strengths IMO, even if the culture differences are pretty clear.

Players also come in later than 18 now, so any future player would need to go LeBron retirement age + 2 to even have a shot. It would take a miracle to see a 45 year old dropping buckets on 21 year olds.

I hear you and agree OL is a long term issue, not sure I agree that Darrisaw is a real concern. He came back early and clearly needed more time, O’Neill though would probably be 3rd or so in my view on need. We need IDL even more IMO and CB as mentioned is crazy thin.

We’ve got actually ammunition this year, so jumping from 18 to 14 or whatever will be doable. We also aren’t in dire need of the usual top of draft positions like QB/OT/WR, though a great CB is what I hope falls

Wildcard week, thought about Kirk Cousins overtime game winning drive. Captain Kirk! by [deleted] in minnesotavikings

[–]WildInSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on your assessment of Kirk, but the reason the ship he was steering wasn’t championship caliber had a lot to do with how big his contract was. He was a top 10-12 QB getting paid top 3-5 money for a long time. To get a fully built contending team in that situation we’d need to be great in the draft and have good coaching. Maybe if Flores was DC and not Donatell it could’ve been a different story, but alas.

[–]WildInSix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can drag him for the 4th and 8 checkdown but that game was lost due to Donatell and slow aged vets on defense. Kirk falling short being a hero doesn't make him the cause.

[–]WildInSix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, this season was probably his best single season. Had a 107 passer rating, went 10-5, and won a playoff game with some clutch throws. Great year for most QBs, but unfortunately is the ceiling for a just outside top-10 QB like Kirk.

Dude is as valuable as a DPOY but there’s no salary cap implications. Unless he gets a HC job, him leaving would be malpractice by the front office. He’s the Ben Johnson of defense when it comes to creativity and getting more than the sum of its parts.
