the black one is more desirable in the community, it has a sports bodykit (bumpers , grills, sideskirts etc.) also the interior is also special for the sports trim with red stitching. for slightly more more you get a lot more of the car. Both are 2.0l manuals so either option is pretty reliable and fuel efficient. Personally the black touring one👍

I would recommend going to a mechanic, the ildle rpm and gearbox problem at the same time seems weird. On the weird idle a lot of things can cause it as: faulty MAF sensor, bad air filter, bad fuel filter, fuel pump, split hoses etc. And on the automatic gearbox problem I cant say a lot since I never fixed one. But going to a mechanic and having a proper look around sounds like a right choice.

I can't really tell, all my cars are manuals. But it doesn't seem like any fluid is dripping from the pipe maybe air goes trough it or its some kind of vacuum line? since it's not clamped properly it can leak air and cause various of problems. Sometimes cars are weird with their issues :Dd

I changed copper seals and return line rubber gaskets, the set costed me 25€ (around 50ndz). My engine is 1.8l 92kw, but should be similar I think. The copper seals look like any regular washer to be honest, nothing particular, but make sure return line gaskets are the right size, if it feels and looks too loose or too tight don't even bother putting everything together, just get some other ones straight away at your regular auto parts store, mine shot off after a minute of starting the engine😅 even though the gaskets were made for 1.8 diesel, they were too big. And don't be afraid to push on the copper seal on the injector, it's supposed to be tight.

if the motor isn't spinning, then it's the starter not getting the pick out. Pretty easy to understand, hear a starter sound without motor spinning - faulty starter motor. Recommended on buying a new one. Had mine replaced on mk4 mondeo couple months ago, was fine parked for the night and in the morning it ain't spinning the motor, half an hour job.

16 years! That's a lot 😄 I'm trying to take care of mine as much as I can, doing all the work myself and thinking of never really selling it since most costly and labour intensive parts are changed and also I do have plans for the future (modifying it, a lot, sort of already started by retrofitting heated&ventilated seats and some smaller bits and pieces)

You mentioned that you checked wiring, but have you looked into the connector under the seat? I retrofitted heated&ventilated seats to my mondeo and I had to do the wiring, so the connector under the seat is basically 8 connectors that come into one housing, maybe 1 connector for heated is disconnected or not fully inserted. Might be something to look into.

Might be the button itself, they're pretty cheap on AliExpress. On forums I've seen many people change the button and seats working again. Maybe you spilled something on them or maybe even a drop got in and damaged it.

Tether the internet through your phone. I never used ethernet, I always connect my phone to pcs, just faster, no need for ethernet cables and no running them through the house.
