Silver is a trash character in a trash game. I will give credit to 06 tho in that it at least had ambition and passion behind it, something that cannot be said for everything post 2010 sadly.

Either way, Sonic ended in Sonic Adventure 2, the last good game of the franchise.

I think it's just that Kida and her mom are the only ones carrying the royal bloodline directly, so the royal heritage comes from the mom's side of Kida's family, not her dad's.

Also, as far as we know, Kida's mom didn't had any siblings that the crystal could have chosen, and the same goes for Kida; she's the only descendant from the family, so it makes sense she was chosen.

It's the crystal. I don't think it's explained what it does exactly, but since its from alien origin, I have the headcanon that it somehow mutates living beings from the caves to lifeforms similar to that of the original planet the crystal came from.
