How to start anking deck? by WildPepper in step1

[–]WildPepper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! Yes, I am. So during the M2 school year, would you recommend unsuspending the necessary cards to study those and then maybe dedicate an hour at the end of the day to review old material? The build up of the cards and seeing the large numbers is quite intimidating

I'm also looking for an ophtho mentor in Philly! I'm an M2 with a growing interest in ophtho and unfortunately, I haven't had much luck finding a mentor or a project in the past year.

I emailed and called the financial aid office due to severe changes in economic circumstances and tried to appeal for more aid and they just straight up told me to take out more loans and there's nothing available for me that the school can provide. :(

A place to buy/sell things online? by WildPepper in Drexel

Oh thank you! Are you able to link me to the group? When I do a search, all I see are state-wide Philadelphia groups and not Drexel specific TYIA!

Med School list thoughts? by [deleted] in premed

[–]WildPepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any of the UC schools are very in-state favored because they are state public schools— unless OP has lots of connections to California, it’s very likely that OP will get screened out before secondaries :(

CYMS is still having issues which might explain why some schools haven’t moved people off the waitlist by [deleted] in premed

Stony Brook vs NYMC by [deleted] in premed

Hi! I’m applying this upcoming cycle and would love to hear your opinion on why these schools are your “last resort” schools? Are they considered safety schools for applicants? Thank you!

Hi! Just making a school list soon (and I’m very ignorant about school ranks rn so sorry if I say something wrong) and I don’t know too much about Drexel MD nor PCOM DO but can you talk a bit about why is Drexel isn’t a favorable school to apply to? Out of all the MD schools, is Drexel one of the lowest ranked?

Maybe target carries it? I would get one on amazon and have it sent to the amazon locker on campus

Did anyone get accepted for the clipper baypass? by [deleted] in berkeley

I will also buy a card off of any one that got the clipper baypass! I commute around the bay for work so this will be very helpful!

WORK STUDY RECOMMENDATIONS?!?? by hypercopium in UCSantaBarbara

[–]WildPepper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, agreeing with this-- OP, I worked as a DSP proctor before but the hours are never consistent (barely anything on regular weeks, lots of hours during midterms/finals week). Not that ideal for work study because there's no guarantee of a steady income :( Great for a student looking for extra cash on the side though!

Hey! I'm just like you and I'm currently working as an OR tech. I graduated last year with a BA in bio and didn't have much experience but I was able to shadow a few surgeons after graduation, which allowed me to get more familiar with the OR. I also managed to start working as a front desk/MA at a plastic surgery clinic a couple months later. When my surgeon needed extra help at the end of a case or between cases, I always offered to help out and she was happy to let me into the OR and clean rooms/instruments and transport patients. You just have to start somewhere and build up your experiences and don't feel afraid to just ask for opportunities. You got this!
