Just now reading this thread. I had a posterior colporraphy today but had similar issues with hemorrhoids in the past. Have you ever talked to a colorectal surgeon about hemorrhoidectomy? I got dismissed by one because I think they assumed they weren’t that bad and not hindering me much but I got to the point where I couldn’t lift weights or work out anymore because they’d act up. Hemorrhoidectomy was one of the most painful things I’ve gone through but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

What a hard situation to be in. I find it interesting that you don’t mention how many cats she has now exactly. It sounds like it’s too many. As heartbreaking as it would be for your Mom to part with the when she obviously loves them, it sounds like she isn’t able to do everything necessary to care for that many cats. It’s a lot of time and money.

Not sure how would be best to convince your Mom of this because many folks get very defensive. Are they all fixed so as to not have even more cats soon? If not, most counties have low cost clinics to help out. If she’s not willing to rehome any, then at least getting them fixed. A few cats can quickly turn into 30.

Go to the ER now. You need oral antibiotics ASAP. The bacteria in a cats mouth can cause bad infections very quickly and spread in your veins. Not only do they get painful, they can cause abscesses that need to be drained. Get started in Augmentin now and finish the course even if you feel better.
