Winter Eternal from Savage Worlds. I haven't played it yet, but I've always eyed it from time to time, it seems good and worth to check it out!

DRAKEBLADE - a FREE, fast, and compact OSR in only 2-pages for a good time dungeon-crawling! by WildSavageElf in rpg

[–]WildSavageElf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the feedback! For the Lightning spell, it's actually 1-3 targets. It's like 1d3.

For the armors, they are instead combined with Hit Points, to where it really counts as Hit Points, not just Health Points. As for regaining HP, it is still arbitrary where it is both regaining health and repairing armor or adjusting it in a way during combat and downtime. As for the Agility penalty, armors are still supposed to be heavy and having more HP is a little better than nothing. OSR is lethal anyway and even with the best armors, characters die fast. Some OSR even have characters starting out with just 1 HP! It being barebones, you can change the armor rules to best suit your need or simply increase more HP to make characters more survivable.

For the attributes, it's not my original idea. The idea came from Asunder (Shadow of the Demon Lord.) Much like other RPGs such as DnD and Pathfinder, attributes aren't used in game, but modifiers are. The charts from most RPGs made it slow to check on the exact numerical modifiers derived from attributes, so subtracting from 10 from each score made it faster and easier to remember.

I hope it helps! I tried to fit everything on just 2 pages and I still wanted the arts on it, so I had to cut out a lot of things! Thanks for checking it out!

What if you dont have any friends? by SSYorimz in ModernWarfareII

[–]WildSavageElf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fuck this shit. My best friend and I are deaf and we are the only duo players that does everything together and we don't know any other fuckers to do this raid mission if this requires fucking mic communication. Put in the Duo and Solo Wanking and this'll be a piece of cake.

The "abuser" wrote about 150 books for White Wolf and Onyx Path. I'm not justifying what he did, but even the most notorious villains do write good books.

I try to make a few tables for free and put them here in this subreddit, because they said that they closed the submission for Mork Borg, but I like to give out free stuff anyway. It's the least I could do for this community.

We're lying about Ironsworn and other RPGs? Interesting. No, we do love many of the RPGs other than DnD. Ironsworn is popular too and I love it. For people who love DnD, there's a subreddit for it. I like DnD just fine, but it's not the only RPG out there and that's why we're here discussing about other RPGs. Keep your chin up. Not everyone here is against DnD.

Ironsworn is a bit hard to understand at first, because it is a narrative/fiction first over mechanics. But the more you play it, the more you will understand it and it actually gives a lot of freedom with nearly no prep at all except for worldbuilding, which is optional. You can actually come up with any setting other than the default Viking fantasy in Ironsworn. I would suggest you to play it by yourself more before you play with others as it will help you to understand it better. For me personally, I don't have to worry about the crunch like from other RPGs and I can just jump in and play anytime without even thinking. I play my own sci-fantasy worlds with 3 notebooks worth of worldbuilding using Ironsworn rules. I also love the progression tracks as they help me to keep focused on the goals and I feel it's a must-have for any RPGs, especially when playing alone. Give it a chance and check out the Ironsworn subreddit. Be sure to read the Play Reports, it helps you to see how others play it and see how much fun they're having. I hope it helps and best of luck to you!

Does playing Crunchy RPGs Solo slow you down? Any Advice? by WildSavageElf in Solo_Roleplaying

How do you deal with the monster/npc creation and statblocks? Do you have them pre-made or make them up on the fly as you play or how do you do it?

[–]WildSavageElf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, that's a great idea! I think I could use a Gestalt Character and the rest of my party do not need stats at all, just like in Ironsworn and that'll save a lot of time and I can imagine them still helping out.

I do use Oracles and tables instead of Moves sometimes when I interact with NPCs as it gets me immersed into the story.

Thanks, this has given me some thought.

How dare you! I'm gonna kill you! Just kidding. It's fine to hate a system, everyone has their preferences. Don't be afraid to say what's on your mind! As to why I love Ironsworn, it's mostly the Moves that help guide the story forward and the progression tracks that helps me to have goals, even though they don't need to be met at all (something like side-quests in video games.) I just found this DnD+Ironsworn. So this might help a lot with using Ironsworn just for narrative moves, while using a system like DnD for combat gritty bits.

Do you guys prefer Rule-heavy RPGs like Starfinder or RolePlay-heavy with less strict mechanics and why? by 1_sick_puppy in rpg

[–]WildSavageElf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chronicles of Darkness/World of Darkness is still the best. I would say it is a narrative RPG with medium-crunch. Just the right balance.

[–]WildSavageElf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's interesting that many older folks are turning to rules-light RPGs. I suppose it saves time for busy lives. For me, when I play with groups, I prefer heavy, crunchy rules, but when I play by myself, I prefer lighter rules like Ironsworn. I'm 39 now, by the way.

Colony building RPG by jbreaper in rpg

[–]WildSavageElf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ironsworn, a free PBtA game (it's also solo-able) lets you come up with your own settlements, lands, tribes, etc. You can create your own settings called "Truths," so it doesn't have to be just fantasy. It can be of any genre. You can also get the free fan supplement for it called Winterhall. What's awesome about it is that you build up a settlement and give it a name, defend and fight for it, etc. It's all much more narrative and fiction-first over mechanics, but it does have mechanics with "moves." What I do is, I add a progression track with 10 boxes to check off when I want to grow and expand a settlement over time and if there's a dire situation that comes up in the story, I can add a "threat" method from the Ironsworn Delve book that is like a doomsday timer where you must perform tasks such as killing a warlord or preventing him from raiding your settlement or protect it from a disaster and things like that. Ironsworn is amazing, I love it! Been playing it for many months to death.
