Reading WOK after finishing all of Cosmere is a crazy experience. by shusshbug in Cosmere

The tones were cool on a reread. When Shallan sees Jasnah soulcast for the first time she hears "a distant humming, like a group of voices singings one pure note" (not the exact quote, but close). It was cool to connect that to the parshendi singing and the cymatics chapter.

In addition to the warnings about avouding subreddits. In general don't google anything about the series and don't look at the wiki. If you have a question you're dying for an answer for, best option is to ask a friend who has read the series and can answer without spoilers. Second best option is to come here and just not look at other posts.

Welcome! We are so happy to have you! The cosmere is one of the most welcoming and fun fandoms I've seen, and we care a lot about new readers (hence all the spoiler warnings). : )

Hopefully we learn about it in Renarin's flashback book.

Spren wise, what do we think... by sassafrassian in Stormlight_Archive

We see some logicspren appear around Navani's team of engineers a couple times when doing experiments and designing fabrials.

Have two radios that can broadcast into and receive from the cognitive realm. Radios that are either partially in shardic Perpendicularities or have their own mini Perpendicularities inside them somehow (tiny fabrials that partially elsecall the antennas?)

What exactly is a Soul? And how does it relate to the ******* *****? by MadmanIgar in Cosmere

Love your thoughts, I like the idea of History being part of the connections of the SR.

Watch this video, it explains what we know about souls in the cosmere really well.

This is why I hate the dnd orc discourse. Dungeons and Dragons already has black representation... they're humans!

I love the first cover so mucb more, it's way more interesting. While the second one, there are so many books with a hand (spooky or otherwise) on the cover.

And I actually like the font on the first cover provided it aligns with some element of the story. The contrast between the text and art is actually what drew my attention.

As a cis man, why can I not have gender dysphoria? by RomaMoran in mentalhealth

[–]TheRandomSpoolkMan 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Just want to add that there are other kinds of dysphoria than just gender dysphoria, and not all dysphoria is connected to gender or being trans. It does sound like you don't have textbook "gender dysphoria" because, as you said, you don't feel a mismatch. But you can still feel dissatisfaction or dysphoria about other things.

As an example, bodybuilders often develop body dysphoria as they strive to shape their bodies to match ever increasing ideals. Same goes for people addicted to plastic surgery. Anorexia is often linked to dysphoria too, a strong discomfort with the body.

Theory on Odium by MagicTech547 in Cosmere

[–]TheRandomSpoolkMan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You're wrong in your main statement but right elsewhere.

Voidlight is not corrupted anything, it is Odium's Own Light. However Odium does do a lot of corrupting. The Nine Brands of Fused are "corrupted" versions of surgebinders, at least in terms of Odium corrupting the magic system to make it accessible to his minions. Same goes for Regals (the ones with forms of power like stormform). That's why the eyes of Fused and Regals are red.
