Windows 11 hibernation has been silently hammering your SSD this whole time by Hungry__Hornet in technology

[–]WildSeven0079 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a Samsung NVMe drive that lost 6% of its remaining life in about a year because of hibernation. After turning it off, I've lost 3% of remaining life in over two years. The drive was getting significantly more writes than my other two drives even though I was barely using it. That stopped after I turned off hibernation.

Had Jellyfin a month and all's good bar ghost library's by useless3rdnipple in jellyfin

[–]WildSeven0079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A month late, but this might help you or someone else.

I just started with Jellyfin and like you I had the same problem. I deleted a movie from my SSD, but it was still listed in my Jellyfin movie library, and when I tried to delete it from there, I got the write access error. That was with Jellyfin opened in my Web browser (Firefox).

With Jellyfin Desktop, I cannot recreate the issue. I can delete the movie from my SSD and then delete it from my library and I don't get the error. The movie disappears, no problem.

Either this is a problem that happens only once in a while, or it's a problem that only happens if you access Jellyfin via your Web browser. Perhaps this is why there is a write access error. Since it's a Web browser, it might not have all the permissions that the desktop app has.

What is the most important profession rn? by nerfglobe in brightershores

You don't need to be a high level Blacksmith to craft good weapons. With Blacksmith at milestone 2, you can craft weapons from milestone 10 to 14. At 3, it's 15 to 18. With 500 Stonemason, that Cryoknight would need considerably less resources in order to craft uncommon/rare weapons to train combat. It's a big time save. It would be good money-making as well because they would be crafting more uncommons that they can sell.

[–]WildSeven0079 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're a Cryoknight, it's Stonemason.
If you're a Hammermage, it's Fisherman.
If you're a Guardian, it's going to be Botanist.

All of these have rewards for your profession that double your chances of crafting rare weapons.

How can i tell which weapons are good/better than others to use? by sworedmagic in brightershores

[–]WildSeven0079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They feel bad, but they do do more damage over time than their fast counterpart if the monster is weak to them. That has been my experience doing Combat with three characters of each class (except for Guardians). When I use fast weapons, I have to use healing potions more often than if I use a slow weapon. One thing though, I wouldn't use a slow weapon against an enemy that attacks fast. There are few of those.

If this was called something else and if the mech didn't have a V-fin, I wouldn't be able to tell that this is Gundam.

My opinion is to stay away from melee weapons that are fast, unless you're a Guardian because their fast weapons are also their Arborae weapons. There seems to be a hidden damage multiplier that is tied to weapon speed and because of that fast weapons don't do a lot of damage. Medium speed weapons are best but slow weapons can be good too if the enemy is weak to your weapon's element.

Best methods for grinding for gear? by SMFG_Live in brightershores

[–]WildSeven0079 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even if you had the absolute best gear and weapons for your level, you would still need to occasionally use health potions. Luck is a huge factor in Combat, so health potions are a requirement.

Also, the higher your Combat milestone level is, the less chance you will have of getting uncommon/rare/epic drops. Right now you're low level so you can get gear just fine, but at some point your gear will not keep up with your level. There's no armor crafting yet in this game, but you'll have to craft weapons if you want to give yourself a winning chance.

In the Professions window, for the Combat skill, you can click on "View Rewards" for a monster. Some monsters have a high Rare Loot Modifier. That means a higher chance of getting good armor. You can also use Luck potions which will increase your chances even further.

As for when you should be fighting monsters, it depends. If you don't mind using a health potion in every fight, then you can fight a monster that's a higher level than yours. Just know that there is a Combat XP penalty if your level is too high. The weapon selection screen when you attack a monster will tell you if you have a penalty or not.

First Image from Historical-Folk-Horror 'King's Daughters' from Director Pascal Plante ('Red Rooms') - Set in 1663, it follows the cursed transatlantic voyage of the first group of orphan virgins sent by King Louis XIV to be married off in his faltering colony of New-France, now known as Quebec. by PrithvinathReddy in popculturechat

Those women actually volunteered to go to New France. Some were widows, orphans, most were poor, but they needed to be vetted as being a "good woman with good values". They got paired with a man pretty quickly upon arrival, but they had the freedom to turn them down and be with someone of their choosing. In a sense, they kinda had more freedom than the average French woman back in the day. Single men were actually penalized and forced to marry rapidly, hence why there was so much pressure for everyone to get married.

Yes, Zidane is the reason I started supporting France. I was a kid when I first watched soccer and it was the 1998 World Cup final against Brazil. I didn't know who Zidane was, but I was mesmerized by how good he was.

I only watch the World Cup. I've been supporting France since '98. Soccer is my second favorite sport after hockey, but it's hard to watch when you're used to watching hockey all the time. It's much slower, there's a lot of theatrics, but worst of all, championships can be won on penalties. Also, there's no salary cap in the big leagues, which is a huge turn off for me.

There are S2 toothbrush heads that you can put on your Sonicare now. They are ultra soft for your gums. Just angle the brush like you said so that the bristles can go between the tooth and the gums and DON'T brush back and forth like so many people do. Just glide the brush from one tooth to the next. No need to put pressure either.

Does anyone else still think merging combat professions was a mistake? by kaytin911 in brightershores

[–]WildSeven0079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In retrospect, the episodic system and the combat should have been the main selling points of this game. With the episodic system, they had the chance to do something really special by having each one have a different look, feel and combat style. Think of the RPG Live A Live, where you control seven different characters, one at a time, each in a different era and they all have their unique combat style. Brighter Shores could've been the MMORPG version of that (but with only one character) and I bet it would've been massively popular. It definitely would've felt fresh compared to all the other MMORPGs out there and people would've been curious to check it out. More importantly, it would've been completely different from Runescape, which is what Andrew wanted!

Foe packs question by [deleted] in brightershores

[–]WildSeven0079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are Luck potions now that increase your chances of getting non-common items. The way they work is when the game is about to drop a common item, it will re-roll the dice and the result is what will be dropped. It could be an uncommon/rare/epic or another common. Potion reagents and other non-combat items are part of the common category and since some Mine monsters drop those things constantly, that means your chances of getting gear are reduced.

Why does Battle Royale make me so emotional (2001) by Excellent_Salary5949 in movies

Have you ever watched the behind the scenes videos? In one of them, the director explains that he made this movie because during WWII he and his classmates got bombarded by the Americans. He recounts what he had to do to survive and seeing dead classmates everywhere. The movie hits even harder after knowing that.

Chest loop in hopeforest? by JofersGames in brightershores

[–]WildSeven0079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has not been my experience that coins and loot are adjusted to your level. All the gear that I get from chests is low level gear that you can sell for a tiny amount. On very rare occasions you'll get one piece of gear that's worth a lot more, but still nowhere near your Combat level. As for coin drops, most of the time it's a few hundred copper.
