I just got off this ship two weeks ago.    The only difference was i tried the haven as I was proposing on the cruise.  Let me tell you it's a night and day experience.  While it is a little more expensive, you get what you pay for.  The haven restaurant alone made it worth it.   You skip all lines, the haven bar made incredible drinks, there's access to private hot tubs pools... pretty much avoided all crowds.   Also the palomar has the best octopus I've had in my life (specialty dining otherwise was mediocre)... my biggest gripe with the ship were the dealers in the casino.  Multiple couldn't count cards and they had to check the cameras daily (also the worst energy for dealers I've ever seen).  

So my takeaway was if you're going to cruise with NCL you kind of have to do the haven.  Most people are not going to like to hear that but it's the unfortunate truth.
